Home favourite Jannik Sinner was the first player to confirm his place in the semifinals of the Next Gen ATP Finals 2019 in Milan. He won the first two matches in his group after entering the event as a wild card. He only lost to Ugo Humbert in his final match but topped the group.
Sinner will be up against the second-placed Miomir Kecmanovic in the second semifinal of the day. Kecmanovic defeated Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in straight sets to grab the place in semis. It was his second group win after defeating Casper Ruud 4–3(7–5), 4–3(7–5), 4–2.

Sinner entered the top 100 rankings after completing his first full tour in 2019. He was placed outside the top 500 but is currently ranked 95th. He has continued his strong form in Milan as he went on to win first to matches. The home favourite has the backing of the crowd and will be expecting a huge amount of crowd to back him up.
Kecmanovic made it to the semis after his second win at the event against Casper Ruud. He won both his group matches in straight sets and looks a strong competitor to Sinner. He won his first ATP tour match in 2019 and also went on to reach the finals at Antalya.
Both Sinner and Kecmanovic have a sharp serve and are well aware of the conditions of the court. It will be interesting to see the encounter as the two youngsters battle for the first time to reach their first semi-final of the Next Gen ATP Finals.
