Next Gen ATP Finals is a professional tennis tournament for men singles tennis players. The tournament is conducted annually for the youth tennis players who have been the best 21 or under in that ATP Tour season.
The competition is played over a stretch of five days. The players who come through from the two round robin groups head over to semi finals and finals.
The responsibility of organizing the tournament was given by ATP to the Italian Tennis Federation, in association with the Italian Olympic Committee. The tournament was first played in the year 2017 in Milan, Italy.
The second edition of Next Gen ATP Finals will start from 6 to 10 November 2018. The tournament will be hosted by Milan at the Fiera Milano stadium on hard surface courts. The event will also introduce the trial usage of Video Review technology for the first time in professional tennis.
The prize money of the tournament is $1,335,000. The competition is sponsored by reputed companies like Emirates, Tag Heuer,Dunlop Sport, Lete, lotto and a few more brands.
2017 Next Gen ATP Finals
In the first edition of the tournament, South Korean player Chung Hyeon who is ranked 26 on the ATP Singles rankings defeated Russian player Andrey Rublev who is ranked 76 presently in sets 3–4(5–7), 4–3(7–2), 4–2, 4–2.
The third place was played and won by Russian international Daniil Medvedev who defeated Croatian player Borna Ćorić in a walkover.
2018 Next Gen ATP Favorites
Greece player Stefanos Tsitsipas who is ranked 16 in the world, recently showed immense form in the Swiss Indoors 2018 tournament. He reached the quarterfinals and will be likely to show some flair in the tournament.
Canadian player Denis Shapovalov who is ranked 29 has been in decent form and is expected to go through in the tournament.
