Having completed the Indian Wells - Miami 'Sunshine double' for the third time in his career (also 2011 and 2014) in 2015, Djokovic lifted his second title at the Monte Carlo Masters that year.

That made the then 27-year-old Serb the first player in Masters 1000 history to win the first 3 Masters 1000 titles of a season.

Earlier in the season, Djokovic beat Federer to win his 4th title at Indian Wells. He then overwhelmed Andy Murray at the Miami Masters a fortnight later.

Having won titles at Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo, Rome and Shanghai to emulate Rafael Nadal (2013) as the only players to lift 5 Masters 1000 titles in a season, Djokovic went one better at the last Masters 1000 tournament of the season.

The World No. 1 beat Andy Murray in the Paris-Bercy final to win his third consecutive title at the tournament and fourth overall. In the process, he became the first player to lift 6 Masters 1000 titles in a season.

Earlier in the season, Djokovic lost to to the Scot in the Coupe Rogers final and to Federer in the Cincinnati title match.
