ATP RIO Open 2019

Former champion Dominic Thiem is the top seed at the Rio Open, an ATP 500 claycourt event, as the Latin American 'Golden Swing' continues this week. The Austrian, who won this tournament in 2017, will be looking for a big boost at Rio after bowing out in the semi-finals of the Argentina Open last week.

Second-seeded Fabio Fognini too is desperately hoping to string together some wins. His third-round loss at the Australian Open was followed by a couple of opening round defeats in Cordoba and Buenos Aires and he would be hoping to turn things around this time.

The two in-form men, Marco Cecchinato and Diego Schwartzman, are the third and the fourth seeds respectively. Cecchinato will be coming to Rio on the back of winning the ATP 250 title in Buenos Aires and he would definitely be aiming to extend his winning streak.

Schwartzman lost the final to Cecchinato rather meekly at the Argentine capital. The Rio Open would present him the perfect opportunity to forget that setback since he tasted crowning glory here 12 months ago.
