Roger Federer has posted a picture with a quokka on Twitter, which has led to a heart-warming reaction amongst his fans - with almost everyone calling the picture cute.

Federer had a good year on the tennis court as he started the season with a win at the Australian Open, beating arch-rival Rafael Nadal in the final to take the coveted trophy home. At the age of 35 years and 5 months, he became the oldest player to take part in the final of the Australian Open since Ken Rosewall in 1974.

The Swiss ace then won the Wimbledon Championships, defeating Marin Cilic in the final to win the title for the 8th time, and a Grand Slam for a massive 19th time.

Incidentally, he partnered his nemesis Nadal for the first time in a doubles match earlier this year too - at the Laver Cup.

Heard the name quokka for the first time?

The quokka is considered the happiest animal in the world and is definitely a cute sight to look at which will make even the grumpiest grandma in the world smile. However, the furry little animal has been known to bite people in certain cases.

The animal has adapted to human presence and is known to coax human beings for food and entertainment. It is illegal to own a quokka in the Rottnest Island, and doing so warrants a fine of $300.

When Federer posted a selfie with the quokka, naturally there was an outburst of reactions from his fans.

The Federer fans certainly had a hard time deciding who is the cuter of the two -- their tennis hero, or the happiest animal in the world.
