WTA Rankings update: Danielle Collins makes big leap, re-enters Top 10 before French Open; Iga Swiatek extends her lead as the World No. 1

Danielle Collins and Iga Swiatek have been the big winners in the latest WTA rankings. The in-form duo have dominated the women's division in 2024, winning multiple trophies.

Collins has been one of the most in-form players in the WTA during the 2024 season. The 30-year-old has re-entered the Top 10 in the WTA rankings ahead of the French Open.

Collins is set to retire at the end of the season and is enjoying incredible success as a professional tennis player in her last season. The American won back-to-back titles in Miami and Charleston and continued her good form on clay this season.

Thanks to her semifinal run at the Italian Open and her final appearance at Strasbourg, Collins has ascended to the top 10 in the world rankings once again. She has 3472 points to her name and has a small lead over World No. 11, Jelena Ostapenko (3318 points).

Another American who is enjoying the 2024 season is Madison Keys. The 29-year-old is fresh off a title win at the Strasbourg International 2023, to add to her impressive performances in Madrid and Rome.

Keys made it to the semi-final of the Madrid Open and followed it up with a quarterfinal run at the Italian Open. The American has jumped four places in the ranking and finds herself at World No. 12 (3283 points).

Iga Swiatek extends her lead as the World No. 1

Iga Swiatek is set to begin her 61st consecutive week as the World No. 1 in the latest WTA rankings. The Polish star has been the best women's player in the world in 2024 and is on a 12-match unbeaten run heading into the French Open.

Swiatek won consecutive titles at the Madrid Open and the Italian Open to extend her lead at the top of the rankings. The Pole is starting her 105th week at the top of the WTA rankings and looks set to stay there for the foreseeable future.

Iga Swiatek (11695 points) has a sizeable advantage of more than 3500 points over Aryna Sabalenka, who is in second place (8138 points). The rest of the top 10 has remained the same before the start of the French Open.

Coco Gauff (7638 points), Elena Rybakina (5673 points) and Jessica Pegula (4550 points) complete the top 5. Maria Sakkari continues as the World No. 7 (3980 points) and Ons Jabeur occupies the 9th spot with 3748 points.
