WWE NXT TakeOver: Portland Results- New signee makes huge impact, shocking betrayal costs Ciampa

Thank you all for following along with me for this amazing show. It was an absolute privilege to get to cover it for you guys. Also, thanks to Arby's and Doordash, because I was REALLY hungry early in the show and was getting cranky and I love me some roast beef.

Also, I was totally wrong.

It's worth noting that Gargano was wearing a DIY shirt while doing this.

Gargano is out here, supposedly to support Ciampa... but instead hits Ciampa with the NXT belt!

Cole gets the pin!

RESULT: Adam Cole defeats Tomasso Ciampa

Tomasso with the pin!!

But there's no ref.

The ref is down and Cole with the low blow!

Cole with the Last Shot AGAIN.... and Ciampa STILL KICKS OUT

Some back and forth with Yes Locks on each other.... and Roderick Strong is distracting the referee!

And Fish & O'Reilly attack Ciampa! Cole for the pin!

CIAMPA KICKS OUT!

Ciampa with the Fairytale Ending but Cole STILL KICKS OUT!

What a damn match!

Cole goes for the Panama Sunrise onto the ring apron, but Tomasso reverses it into an Air Raid Crash onto said apron!

Cole with the Last Shot!

But Tomasso instinctively rolls to the ropes to protect himself.

Er, three count.

Cole essentially drops Ciampa on his head TWO MORE TIMES, but STILL can't get the two count!!

OK, now the table breaks

POWER BOMB ONTO THE ANNOUNCE TABLE BY CIAMPA!

That table is NOT breaking tonight.

This match has been paced perfectly. They know the crowd is exhausted from the previous matches so they're slowly building to let them get their energy back. Cole maintains control, letting Ciampa sell the injured neck, while Ciampa still gets flurries of offense in to build up fan support. And it's slowly picking up.

Ciampa counters a Panama Sunrise with a leaping knee and staves off defeat for a while longer.

Cole with a Backstabber but instead of the back it's the neck. Ouch.

Still only a 2-count.

That's psychology right there. Cole's one of the safest guys in the business and they probably worked on that spot for weeks. But everybody - from the wrestlers to the announcers - sold it perfectly. Just perfect. This match is next level.

Oh no. Oh man. Oh no. Cole just threw Ciampa neck-first onto the announce table.

I've got Ciampa for this one, even though I'm a big fan of Adam Cole as both a performer and a person (still my favorite interview ever). Ciampa is, without a doubt, an NXT lifer. He likes it that way. Cole is going to go on to WrestleMania level success. He's ready to move on.

But, I can count the number of times I've been right about this kind of stuff on, maybe, two hands. So, who knows?

NXT Champion Adam Cole makes his way to the ring. Mauro Renallo not only makes a Nat King Cole reference but some fascinating trivia about him, as well.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Never change, Mauro. You are awesome.

Tomasso may be my favorite guy in WWE right now. He's a prime example of a heel who organically transitioned to a face without losing his heel mannerisms.

I don't think I've ever seen Pete Dunne this genuinely happy before.

Riddle and Dunne celebrate by holding their newly won belts in their teeth.

BROSERWEIGHTS WIN THE TITLES!!!

RESULT: The BroserWeights defeat the Undisputed ERA

O'Reilly tosses Riddle into Dunne, then goes for the pin.... DUNNE KICKS OUT!

NXT Women's Championship match confirmed for WrestleMania 36

If Fish and O'Reilly lose the titles tonight, it doesn't bode well for Adam Cole, either

Double anklelocks on the Undisputed ERA!

Riddle starting his Goldberg impression, but Fish chopblocks him in the knee. UE goes for the pin, but Riddle kicks out.

Riddle and O'Reilly are just wailing away at each other in one hell of an exchange. Crowd is on their feet for this match.

Double moonsault onto the UE. Dunne nails his target, but O'Reilly gets his knees up, blocking it,

Ha ha ha, Nigel called him Pete "Dune"
