A solemn atmosphere surrounds Days of Our Lives as Salem residents pay their respects to the departed hero, John Black. His family and friends stay around a grieving Marlena as the ISA agent's finishing act is honored. At the same time, Bo is getting better every day.
The last couple of weeks presented the exit story arc of Drake Hogestyn's iconic character on Days of Our Lives. Drake's John was seen arriving in Salem to help Steve procure Versavix for Bo Brady. In the following explosion, John ended up badly injured and passed away. Meanwhile, the procured drug worked like magic on Bo, and the long-comatose patient woke up.
Meanwhile, Xander thrashed Philip for his thoughtless plan, landing the latter unconscious at the hospital. While Xander's temper and Sarah's lies broke down their marriage, the former was briefly arrested. As a result, EJ DiMera got the votes to buy University Hospital. Elsewhere, Arianna got close to Doug III, who is in trouble with moneylenders.
While Salem prepares for John's funeral, the long-running Peacock soap will pay tribute to the legendary character and his actor.

Days of Our Lives: The town comes together to mourn the deceased member
The last few days on Days of Our Lives saw Salemites returning to town to honor the town's star's passing. That includes Anna and Tony DiMera, Jennifer and Jack Deveraux, Will Horton, Paul Narita, Eric Brady, Carrie Brady and others.
Many of the family members will be seen close to Marlena as they mourn the passing of their favorite hero. Little Rachel will be inconsolable despite her father trying to comfort her. The family also meets to offer support to one another. Jack may finally mourn his daughter's death three years after her passing.
Later in the week, a completely healed Hope and Bo Brady are slated to return. They will reunite with Jennifer before dealing with the sad news of John's demise. As such, Bo may miss John's funeral and the opportunity to thank the valiant agent.
Days of Our Lives: Marlena has her family around her as she says goodbye
The previous week saw Marlena's immense sadness as she came to terms with the disappointment that John needed to go after so much pain. Although she resolved to do things on her own, she was seen hugging herself in her lonely bedroom. Most of her family has returned home and paid their respects to John.
However, she will remain distracted with her sorrow to notice much around her. The coming week will see more strength in the family togetherness as everyone troops around her.
The family will gather around Marlena for a group hug to share her misery and loneliness. While appreciative of the comfort and love from everyone, Marlena will be seen bidding her love a final goodnight in a heartbreaking moment.
Days of Our Lives: The departed hero is celebrated
John's funeral will help Days of Our Lives fans revisit John's story arc. The flashbacks will be peppered with interesting memories and stories from the likes of Paul, who shared a love for baseball with John. Belle, Carrie, Paul and Eric will toast to John and speak at his funeral service. Brady, Kayla and Roman would share their memories of him as well.
Halfway through these, Belle will likely suggest that they discuss John's funny side. The family would acknowledge that John would want them to laugh through their tears. As such, some smile-inducing memories will pop out. Even little Rachel will remind Marlena about Grandpa John singing Take Me Out to the Ballgame to her.
