On Monday, June 9, Mnet rolled out the participants list for its reality survival show sequel, Boys 2 Planet. The upcoming show is expected to hold a total of 154 contestants. While the show was initially planned for 160 contestants, by the time the program kicked off its filming, six members backed out of the show.This season is based on the theme of space, and the concept is to create a twin group, consisting of 14 members. The total number of 154 participants is also divided into two sections, the Korean and the Chinese group. Intitially, seven members from each of these sections were decided to be combined to make the show's resultant group.Additionally, the group was expected to function not only as a singular global group consisting of Korean and Chinese members but also as two separate groups, the Korean and the Chinese sections. However, they scratched out this idea, and Mnet chose to create one global boy group through the show. The Korean section, Planet K, holds the mentors Lee Seok-hoon, Kinky, and Kany, while the Chinese section, Planet C's mentors consists of Kim Jae-joon, Xiaoting, and Jrick.
