On June 8, 2025, BTS’ Jin was spotted at South Korea’s Gimpo International Airport as he left for Japan for the Echo Hi-Touch event. This fan event was organized to celebrate the release of his second solo album, Echo, which dropped on May 16. The event was originally scheduled for May 31 but was later rescheduled.

While many fans were excited about the singer's appearance and the opportunity for Japanese fans to meet him, some netizens raised concerns about the timing of his travel. They questioned whether he would return to South Korea in time for the highly anticipated military discharge of his fellow BTS members, RM, V, Jimin, Jungkook, and SUGA, all of whom are taking place this month.

RM and V will be discharged on June 10. They will be followed by Jimin and Jungkook on June 11. SUGA will complete his service on June 21. The group's reunion is being celebrated through the annual BTS FESTA, themed "Twelve O'Clock" this year, marking their 12th anniversary of debut. Offline events are scheduled to take place at KINTEX 2 in Goyang on June 13 and 14, and anticipation is building as fans await the full group’s return.

Despite the backlash from a portion of the fandom, many fans came to Jin's defense. They highlighted that he has remained extremely active with solo promotions and fan events since his discharge a year ago to create content for fans. They also recalled that Jin has always balanced professional obligations with group loyalty.

"Jin doesn’t owe anyone any explanation, he can do whatever he wants when ever he wants, your entitlement makes me sick you are a "fan" and nothing more so behave like one," an X user wrote.

Fans further pointed out that Jin made a same-day round trip to Japan. He attended the Hi-Touch event and flew back to South Korea the same evening. They criticized the negativity, noting that no one should dictate an artist’s schedule or question their dedication.

"This man went in the morning to Japan and came back the same evening after doing his hi touch event with ARMYs. All this within like 9 hours including travel. And you're all questioning his love for his members???," a fan commented.
"He flew to another country, met 1000 fans, and returned to Korea in just 13 hours. And instead of appreciating his hard work and worrying about his health, you dare to complain?," another user wrote.
"OT7 family agenda in the quotes should've known he had this schedule since it's been known for months. Should know hes been there for every members military everything. Why don't you know if you're OT7? He's home already," an X user remarked.
"Please come out of your funny hyung image and let this MAN breath. Some of you are fu**ing stupid questioning his love for his members. Therefore it was a planned schedule he even returned to Korea. STOP HATING HIM !!!!!!," a fan added.

Many emphasized that Jin has already shown consistent love and support for his fellow members and the fandom, and should not face criticism for fulfilling a prior commitment.

"he serve multiple times in just a span of 24 hours more than nonseokjins can ever do in their entire career and still came back home on the same day yet armys still somehow find something to btch and complain about this is the greed they talk in the bible," a fan remarked.
"the saddest shit is that y'all don't even care about his health, he went to two trips back to back on a single day he ain't a prop for y'all he's a living human being. even if he wasn't back it has nothing to do with you superlicious fools," another one added.
"the amount of hate this man gets for simply fulfilling his commitments is disgusting. he’s sacrificed more than most, yet fans twist every move he makes into a reason to hate. if all you do is tear him down, don’t pretend you’re supporting him," a netizen mentoned.
