On June 11, 2025, BTS’ Jimin and Jungkook were officially discharged from the military, joining RM and V, who returned just a day earlier. With only SUGA left to complete his alternative service on June 21, the group is now steps away from its long-awaited full reunion. Following their discharge, Jimin and Jungkook appeared live on Weverse. They shared heartfelt reflections about their military experiences and how they supported one another throughout.

During their first post-discharge Weverse live, both members opened up about the tough early days in training. Jimin admitted that he struggled in the beginning, often feeling overwhelmed. Jungkook, however, became his source of encouragement. He reminded him to take it day by day and celebrate each small milestone.

But as the two transitioned to their base assignment, the roles reversed. Jungkook began to face difficulties, and it was then Jimin’s turn to offer encouragement. He shared how he would tell Jungkook that another day was over. The candid exchange, full of laughter and honesty, moved fans around the world.

Social media was quickly flooded with messages praising their deep bond. Fans said they were grateful the two had enlisted together and said that their friendship had grown even stronger through shared hardships. Many admired the way they cared for one another in such challenging circumstances.

Fans also laughed along with a lighthearted memory Jimin shared. He recalled a night when he woke up to find Jungkook’s face close to his while he was loudly snoring. Jimin joked that he almost pushed a pillow into Jungkook’s face, but now finds it funny looking back.

Jimin and Jungkook made history as the first K-pop idols to enlist under South Korea’s Companion Soldiers system, also known as the buddy system. This allows close friends or relatives to serve side by side, offering vital emotional and practical support during the military experience.

Jimin and Jungkook enlisted on December 12, 2023, and served as active-duty soldiers in the Army’s 5th Infantry Division Artillery Brigade. They trained together, lived in the same quarters, and continued supporting each other through all stages of service.

Reports from fellow soldiers revealed that Jimin and Jungkook were inseparable and even discussed performance ideas for BTS’ future while in training.

Jimin previously shared that during nightly conversations, the pair would dream about their reunion with ARMY and what kind of stages they hoped to deliver. Now, with only SUGA’s discharge remaining, the BTS FESTA 2025 celebrations will hold special significance this year. Not only will they mark the group’s 12th debut anniversary, but they will also celebrate the long-awaited reunion of all seven members after military service.

Offline events will take place on June 13–14 at KINTEX in Goyang, with further announcements about BTS’ comeback highly anticipated.
