On June 11, 2025, BTS members Jimin and Jungkook were officially discharged from military service. Their discharge moves the group one step closer to a full-member reunion. With only SUGA’s discharge remaining on June 21, fans worldwide celebrated the long-awaited return of the duo.
After greeting the media at Yeoncheon Public Stadium, the two idols traveled to HYBE’s building for their first Weverse Live following discharge. However, despite multiple prior warnings from the agency asking fans not to gather at military bases or HYBE headquarters, large crowds still assembled along the route and outside the building.
During the joint Weverse Live, Jimin politely asked fans waiting outside the venue to leave for their safety, as the narrow area and rising temperatures posed a risk of accidents. However, after the live ended, many remained, leading Jimin to post a written message on Weverse once again urging fans to return home safely. He wrote,
"Hello ARMY, it's Jimin. I want to say thank you to all the ARMY who waited for today. I was really happy. I urgently need to ask you one very important favor. As I mentioned before, because the temperature outside is very high and it's a narrow alley, a dangerous situation could arise... I sincerely thank you for coming to find me/coming here, but I would be so grateful if you could please go home today. I'm begging you." (as translated by an X user @dalbitbangtan)
Those watching them address the media live reported that the excessive crowd had overshadowed the members' own words and presence on their discharge day. The issue quickly spread online, with international fans expressing disappointment at those who ignored both the agency’s warnings and the singer's requests. An X user, @my7stars4ever, wrote,
"What a shame they have to beg ARMY to leave... this shouldn't be happening..."
Many condemned the lack of respect shown toward the artists during such an important moment. Fans commented that it was unfortunate the members were forced to ask twice for fans to disperse. Some were especially critical of those live-streaming from the crowd and continuing to post from outside the building even after the requests were made.
"STOP STRESSING JIMIN OUT OMG. leave the hybe building yall are so annoying omgg. the members can’t even be relieved to be discharged bc they have to deal with unreasonable people like this. most of yall in front of hybe are GROWN adults act like it and go home," a fan wrote.
"To all “fans” that were at Jimin and JK’s discharge site, ya’ll aren’t real fans. You couldn’t even let JK and Jimin talk. You’re an embarrassment and such sasaengs. Don’t ya’ll have a k-pop idol to stalk at the airport?! BYE!" an X user commented.
"The people on tiktok doing live from hybe refused to leave even after armys on the comments told them to go home. Stubborn freaks...," an X user added.
"If they are truly ARMY, they will listen and leave. I think we need to revisit true ARMY behavior expectations. Listening to and respecting the members is more important than anything!," another one mentioned.
Many said it was a shame that they couldn't hear what the members were saying to the media because of the disruptive crowd on the site..
"The fans at the site are some of the most irritating batch of people I've seen among all the discharge days, those uncivilized humans did not know how to shut up. Did not even let Jimin and Jungkook talk in peace. Losers," an X user added.
"all they had to do was stfu while they were speaking. i am pissed. all we heard was screaming, whining and stupidity. JK and JM only had this one moment to greet us post discharge and these clowns RUINED it for the ARMYs that waited patiently and respectfully. karma is ARMY," another one said.
"Who in earth were those losers who screamed all the way through JK/JM discharge speeches. The disrespect," a fan remarked.
About Jimin and Jungkook’s military discharge and upcoming BTS activities
Jimin and Jungkook completed their mandatory military service on June 11 after serving for 18 months in the Army’s 5th Infantry Division Artillery Brigade. They were discharged just one day after RM and V, with SUGA expected to complete his alternative service later this month.
The duo first greeted fans and media at Yeoncheon Public Stadium before heading to HYBE headquarters for their Weverse Live. Both idols reflected on their military experiences and expressed gratitude to fellow soldiers, officers, and fans who supported them throughout their service.
Jungkook described the experience as challenging but meaningful and thanked everyone who helped them along the way. Jimin spoke about the strong bonds he had built during service and looked ahead to BTS’ return. They also promised fans that the group would soon begin sharing the plans they had been preparing.
Their discharge marks a major milestone for BTS, whose military hiatus began in December 2022. Jin, j-hope, RM, V, Jimin, and Jungkook have now completed their service, leaving only SUGA to be discharged on June 21.
Excitement is now building for the group’s first full public reunion at BTS FESTA 2025, scheduled for June 13 & 14 at KINTEX in Goyang. The event will celebrate BTS’ 12th debut anniversary and is expected to mark the beginning of the next chapter for the group as they return to activities as seven once again.
