The 2025 BET Awards returns for its 25th annual celebration on Monday, June 9, with a star-studded lineup and major nominations. The ceremony will be broadcast live from the Peacock Theater at L.A. Live in Los Angeles, starting at 8 pm ET/PT on BET.
This year’s show not only honors the past 25 years of Black culture and creativity but also marks a moment of evolution for the network’s biggest night. In a statement released by BET on May 15, 2025, Connie Orlando, EVP of Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy at BET, spoke about what the award ceremony would mean for the industry.
“We’re setting the tone for a night that celebrates 25 years of impact, creativity, and Black culture. With electrifying performances from some of the biggest names in music and an iconic comedic host, ‘BET Awards’ 2025 will be a can’t-miss celebration of everything the culture represents.”
BET is bringing back Kevin Hart to host the event. This marks his second time leading the show after 2011.
Nominations and performances at the BET Awards 2025
Kendrick Lamar leads the pack at this year’s ceremony with ten nominations. These include major categories such as Album of the Year, Best Male Hip Hop Artist, and Video of the Year.
GloRilla, Doechii, Drake, and Future are tied with six nominations each. GloRilla’s debut full-length Glorious is among the nominees for Album of the Year. Doechii, a rising star who has recently broken into the mainstream, has nominations across genres and video categories.
Metro Boomin follows with five nominations, while SZA and The Weeknd are tied with four each. Their nominations span both R&B and pop categories.
This year’s event will also honor four major figures with the Ultimate Icon Award: Mariah Carey, Jamie Foxx, Snoop Dogg, and Kirk Franklin. Each has had a multi-decade impact in their respective fields- pop and R&B, acting and comedy, hip hop, and gospel.
Performers announced so far include Lil Wayne, Teyana Taylor, GloRilla, Playboi Carti, and Leon Thomas.
Presenter lineup at the 2025 BET Awards
The confirmed list of presenters and participants for the BET Awards 2025 includes Stevie Wonder, Ciara, Quinta Brunson, Kerry Washington, Keke Palmer, Busta Rhymes, and Tyler Perry.
Additional presenters from BET’s upcoming shows like Divorced Sistas and Run will be present, including DeVon Franklin, LeToya Luckett-Coles, Marques Houston, Drew Sidora, and Annie Ilonzeh. Internet stars and younger influencers such as Druski and Kai Cenat will also take the stage.
106 & Park tribute at the 2025 BET Awards
The 2025 BET Awards will have a dedicated segment as a tribute to 106 & Park, the music video countdown show that ran from 2000 to 2014. It will honor the 25th anniversary of the show’s launch, with BET calling it a “must-see” moment in their official announcements on May 15, 2025.
Former hosts AJ Calloway, Julissa Bermudez, Free Marie Wright, Keshia Chanté, Rocsi Diaz, and Terrence J will reunite on stage. The segment is being creatively directed by Teyana Taylor and The Aunties Production. The performance roster for the tribute includes Bow Wow, Amerie, B2K, Jim Jones, Mya, and T.I. BET promises a recreation of the “culture-defining energy.”
"The tribute will feature timeline-shattering performances from previous host and Mr. 106 & Park, Bow Wow, Amerie, B2K, Jim Jones, Mya, T.I., and more, bringing back the culture-defining energy, music and moments of the history-making franchise," the official statament read.
Ahead of the ceremony, BET is hosting the BET Experience 2025, a four-day event featuring fan-focused activations, concerts, and panel discussions from June 5 to June 8. The experience serves as a lead-up to the main awards show.
