On Wednesday, June 11, the removal of Juror No. 6 was discussed in the courtroom during Diddy's trial. Per NBC News, both sides disagree on whether or not the juror should be removed from the trial.
While the government is seeking their removal, defense attorney Alexandra Shapiro claimed that her side was opposed to it, also claiming that the juror is one of the Black members on the panel.
The decision about whether Juror No. 6 will be removed from Diddy's trial or not is expected to be announced on Thursday, June 12.
Speaking about the reason behind the prosecution requesting the juror's removal, lead prosecutor Maurene Comey said,
"We were very reluctant to put in this letter, it appeared to be a lack of candor with the court that raises serious issues with us. We did not want to do this. We were compelled to do that."
Beyond the lack of candor, no other reason behind the prosecution's bid for removal has been put forward so far.
Meanwhile, the defense has asked Judge Arun Subramanian for a chance to respond to the removal request. Per the transcript of Shapiro's discussion with the government and the judge, the attorney said,
"But if the government is going to put in a letter, you know, we’d like the opportunity to be heard either in writing or tomorrow morning."
"Jane" testified about the birthday presents Diddy sent her in 2023
Besides the discussion of the juror's removal, when Jane took the stand for cross-examination on Wednesday, June 11, she spoke about her birthday from two years ago (in February 2023), when she texted Diddy, asking for birthday presents.
Jane testified to asking him for $15,000, which would include her birthday outfit and a dinner with her friends. She also confirmed that Combs paid for the dinner.
Following the celebration with friends, Jane claimed that she flew to Miami to celebrate her birthday with Diddy, where they had dinner at Nobu - a sushi restaurant at the hotel where they were staying.
Jane testified to suggesting to the Last Night rapper that they eat somewhere else, in an attempt to get out of the hotel.
"I’m asking if he could please romance me outside of hotel rooms."
After dinner, when Diddy said he had planned "entertainment" for her, Jane testified to going along with it, saying,
"My circumstances were my options in this relationship. If I see him, there is a request for a ‘hotel night,’ so I’m just adapting to my circumstances — I’m adapting to my environment. So, yes, there were moments I suggest or organize things under the pressures of my lover, yes."
Combs also gifted Jane a Van Cleef necklace and bracelet, with which she had taken a picture that was shown to the jury in the courtroom. The witness testified that the picture was taken after she had taken an ecstasy pill and was waiting for the "entertainer" to arrive.
When defense attorney Teny Geragos asked Jane if she looked excited in the picture, she responded by saying that she would receive any affection from Combs "with open arms" by that point.
Jane will return to the stand again on Thursday, June 12, which should be the final day of her testimony. According to Prosecutor Comey, two more witnesses are expected to take the stand this week.
