Rapper Young Thug jokingly expressed his desire to quit music and become a streamer after learning how much streamer Adin Ross earned on the streaming platform Kick last month. This conversation occurred when Atlanta rapper joined Adin Ross and Neon during their livestream on June 12, 2025.

When Ross asked the rapper for an update about his upcoming album, Uy Scuti, Thug replied that he was going to "stop doing music" and "start streaming," adding that streamers lived a "cool life." A clip of the interaction was shared by the X page @Rap.

“I'ma stop doing music, I'ma start streaming... I'm done rapping. Y'all live like a cool life, y'all go everywhere every day," Thug told Ross and Neon.

Adin Ross and Young Thug have had a few cordial interactions in the past. In February 2025, the streamer offered to send lean, aka Purple Drank (a recreational drug), to Thug after the rapper admitted on a social media post that he needed "some drank," as reported by HotNewHipHop.

Young Thug did not respond to Ross's offer on X.

This came months after the rapper was released from prison in October 2024, after accepting a plea deal following the YSL RICO trial. As per one of the conditions of the deal, Thug is prohibited from taking drugs during his probation.

In August 2024, Ross also alerted President Donald Trump about Thug's alleged "unfair treatment" at the hands of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis amid the months-long YSL trial.

During an interview with Trump amid his presidential campaign, Ross asked the president if he could do anything to ensure his "friend" Young Thug was "getting treated fair" by Willis, to which Trump replied:

"So, I heard about him, so I have heard he is being treated very unfair by her, and I would tell her, she's got to treat these patriots that are being all, terrible, all going after him, and I hear Young Thug is being treated...I heard the name. I heard it from other people that he's being treated unfairly. So, he's got to be treated fairly."

Updates about Young Thug's upcoming album

Young Thug is gearing up to drop his first album following his release from prison. The album, titled Uy Scuti, will serve as the follow-up to his 2023 album Business is Business, which he released while in prison during his trial.

The rapper first teased the upcoming project in March 2025, when he showed up to an NBA game with a jersey that read Uy Scuti, which is also the name of a red supergiant star.

During his cover story with GQ Magazine in April 2025, Young Thug explained that working on the album "came easy" despite spending over two years in prison.

"It came easy. I never lost it. Nothing. I never lost it. I listened to music in jail and I listened to music sometimes in court and things like that, so I never lost it. I was still up to par on what was going on for the most part," he said.

In April, Young Thug released the alternate cover art for the album in addition to an online shop with new merchandise bundles. That same month, Thug released the lead single of the project, titled Money on Money, featuring fellow rapper Future.

Speculations of Thug dissing Gunna on the new track circulated on social media due to the rapper's lyrics: “These f**k n***as tellin’ for nothin’, and I gotta be the one callin’ ’em friends," "Brother, you a rat (My brother)” and “Twin, you a rat, you smoked, uh.”

However, Thug has not confirmed these speculations as of this article.

For context, Gunna, who was also arrested as part of the YSL RICO case but accepted an Alford plea early on in the trial, spent months fending off allegations of being a "rat" and snitching on Thug.

According to HipHop DX, Uy Scuti is tentatively expected to be released in June; however, the exact date has not been announced at the time of writing this article.

Additionally, Young Thug also featured on Lil Baby's song Dum, Dumb, and Dumber alongside Future in January 2025, making this his first musical offering since his release from prison.
