Billie Eilish released her third studio album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, on May 17. The album includes numerous tracks, including Birds of a Feather, The Greatest, Wildflower, Skinny and more. However, fans were particularly intrigued by The Diner, which is the eighth track of the album, as the song ends with a mysterious phone number being listed.

Hit Me Hard and Soft was released following her two acclaimed albums, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, and Happier Than Ever. Her latest release has been rated over four stars by established publications like The Guardian, The Independent, The Telegraph, and NME, among others.

The latest album features her signature raw and poignant lyrics and honest storytelling with niche rhythms. Billie Eilish’s latest album was created alongside her brother, singer, and longtime collaborator, Finneas.

The eighth track, The Diner, sets up a harrowing scene for listeners where the singer claims that she will stop at nothing to end up in the arms of the person she loves. Although the song ends with the lyrics, “I saw you in the car with someone else and couldn’t sleep. If something happens to him, you can bet that it was me,” the phone number 310-807-3956 gets read out by Eilish.

For those uninitiated, the number 310 is the area code connected to Los Angeles, California, where Billie Eilish was born and raised.

What can one hear if they call 310-807-3956? Details revealed as Billie Eilish’s The Diner track includes an easter egg

The Diner takes a strong resemblance to Billie Eilish’s hit track Bellyache, where the musician fantasizes about carrying her friends’ dead bodies in the back of her car. This time in The Diner, she imagines herself as a stalker who is willing to break into her target’s home in hopes of getting married to them someday. Lyrics in the track include:

“I memorized your number, now I call you when I please/ I tried to end it all, but now I’m back up on my feet”

In the outro of the song, one can hear “3956/ 310-807-3956/ 310-807-3956.”

Fans ended up adding the number to their contact list, and once the number appeared on the WhatsApp platform, they were able to sign up and receive messages and updates from the Grammy winner herself. The message, in Billie Eilish’s voice, goes:

“Hello? Hello? Wait, I can’t hear you. Hello? Hello? Hold on, let me call you back”

Then an automated message says:

“You can text this number, if you want to be texted first press any key now, messages will be sent to your number via community. Standard messaging and data rates apply. Consent is not a condition of purchase.”

It remains unclear as to whether the phone number originally belonged to her, a former lover, a family member, or a friend.

Billie Eilish has also released a vinyl of the Hit Me Hard and Soft album. This comes after she revealed that the vinyls were made using 100% recyclable materials. At the moment, fans can purchase from the three available vinyls, including the Amazon Exclusive Red Vinyl, UO Exclusive, and Walmart Exclusive Grey Bio version. They are priced at $32.99, $32.97, and $32.97, respectively. They are available on the Amazon, Urban Outfitters, and Walmart websites.

Meanwhile, the singer is expected to embark on the North American leg of her Hit Me Hard and Soft tour on September 24, which will continue until the end of the year.
