Latin pop superstar Shakira's recent concert in San Antonio was postponed last minute. The venue, Alamodome, issued a statement on Facebook less than forty minutes before its scheduled start at 7:30 pm on Friday. June 13, 2025, noting that it stemmed from "structural issues."
While the venue did not elaborate on the details, they added that the performance would be rescheduled, adding:
"More information will be emailed to ticket holders directly when available. We apologize for the inconvenience."
In a separate Facebook post, the Colombian singer's team mentioned the exact cause. It detailed that they usually rely on a local "third party" that provides them the infrastructure in the city to "support the stage and the ceiling from which (her) production hangs." However, due to an issue with a "truss" provided by the third party, they had to postpone.
Shakira is "devastated and heartbroken" that her San Antonio performance has to be rescheduled
In her social media statement, Shakira explained that a similar third-party issue cropped up during her Boston performance. The Chantaje hitmaker hitmakerwas referencing her May 29 and May 30 concerts at Fenway Park, which had to be cancelled.
According to a statement shared with multiple media outlets including Billboard, Live Nation mentioned that during a "pre-show check," they identified some "structural elements" that were not "up to standard."
The singer elaborated that this prompted her to "personally demand" the addition of a "new group of engineers." Further, she also met with the company to ensure it was "thoroughly re-evaluated." Shakira continued:
"After a detailed review, the company experts and engineers personally promised me they had reinforced the structure and they guaranteed me 100% the safety and reliability of the show going forward."
She included a picture of a broken metal support in her statement. Expressing regret over not being able to perform on Friday, the Colombian pop superstar added:
“I am here, devastated and heartbroken.”
She noted that she is working to reschedule the San Antonio show in the coming days.
Needless to say, the development left fans frustrated. Many criticized the last-minute cancellation, highlighting that they spent thousands of dollars to travel and an advance notice would have been better.

According to KENS 5, Richard Oliver, a spokesperson with the City of San Antonio, added that those who paid for parking at the venue, priced at $60, using a credit card would be reimbursed.
Shakira is currently on her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour in support of her 2024 album of the same name. It is worth noting that the San Antonio concert is one of six U.S. shows from the tour that got cancelled, relayed the outlet.
Moreover, fans initially booked tickets for the aforementioned show last November at the Frost Bank Center. However, due to high demand, the songstress' team moved the concert to the Alamodome, reported San Antonio Current.
Shakira's next stop on the tour is scheduled to take place at Houston's Toyota Center on June 16 and 17, 2025. The latter show was originally set to be held on Sunday, June 15, as per a statement by the venue. However, an explanation for the pushed date has not been given. The show on Monday still stands as planned.
There is no official word on the new San Antonio concert date as of this writing.
