NCAA all-around champion Jordan Bowers ends gymnastics chapter as competitor, steps into new role for Oklahoma Sooners

2025 NCAA all-around champion Jordan Bowers recently announced her retirement from the sport. Bowers, 22, had competed across several levels of the discipline, including senior elite and collegiate.

During these years, Bowers has achieved several highs with her national and collegiate teams. She has been part of three NCAA title-winning Oklahoma Sooners gymnastics teams and has won four won gold medals for the national team at the Junior Pan American Championships. After all these achievements, Bowers has decided to move on to her next chapter and bring down the curtain on her gymnastics career.

Bowers announced this news via a heartfelt post on her Instagram handle. The Nebraska native expressed gratitude for the journey she navigated across competing for her school, country and university. Additionally, she also mentioned the life ethos the sport has taught her during this span, as she wrote:

"Dear Gymnastics,The final bow❤️ The past 20 years have been everything I could’ve dreamed of and more. From being a J.O. gymnast, to qualify as an Elite, to compete for the United States of America, to compete for the school of my dreams and represent the best University every single day, to then become a 4X National Champion with the best University and staff. This sport has taught me resilience, determination, patience, trust, love, and passion. I am beyond grateful for every single opportunity I have been given."

In her post, Jordan Bowers also made special mention of her family, teammates and fiancé, Raydel Gamboa, for supporting her throughout this gymnastics journey spanning two decades. Bowers also added that she is excited for the next aspiration of her life, which is to become a student conditioning coach.

Jordan Bowers shared her thoughts on winning the 2025 Honda Award after an impressive season with the Oklahoma Sooners gymnastics team. Her achievements in the season include winning the national team title with the Sooners, the all-around title and a runner-up finish on the floor.

In an interview, she shared her happiness at winning the award and said that this moment is like a dream come true for her. She said (via Soonersports.com):

"I am so extremely grateful to be the Honda Award Winner for the sport of gymnastics. Winning this award is truly a dream come true and I couldn't do it without the people who support me the most, and this incredible university."

In the conversation, Jordan Bowers also offered good wishes for the other competitors for the award, featuring Olympians such as Jade Carey.
