Scarlett Johansson recently sat down for an interview with David Harbour, where his latest movie, Thunderbolts*, came up in conversation. In the Interview Magazine conversation, published on June 10, 2025, Johansson stated that Marvel had initially credited her as an executive producer for the movie, but she requested them to remove her name as she had no creative input on the project.

Perez Hilton, in a video uploaded on his YouTube channel on June 11, 2025, claimed this stood in stark contrast to actions taken by Blake Lively, wife of Scarlett Johansson's ex-husband Ryan Reynolds.

For those unversed, Reynolds and Lively are currently embroiled in an ongoing legal battle against Lively's It Ends With Us director and co-star Justin Baldoni, where multiple allegations have been made against the actress. One of these allegations is that Baldoni accused Lively of using her husband, Reynolds, and close friend Taylor Swift to coerce him into accepting her script rewrites.

Hilton, in his video, addressed this latest news about Scarlett Johansson.

"Here's a little quick contrast... Blake 'Authorship' Lively needed authorship of It Ends With Us so badly that she just took it from Justin Baldoni through very shady, unethical ways. On the flip side, Ryan Reynolds' ex-wife Scarlett Johansson asked Marvel Studios to remove her executive producer credit from Thunderbolts* because she wasn't involved," he said.

More about Scarlett Johansson's recent interview

In the conversation with Interview Magazine, Scarlett Johansson and David Harbour talked about her executive producer credit on Marvel’s Thunderbolts*, which she specifically requested to be removed.

When Harbour, who starred in Black Widow alongside Johansson and reprised the role in the latest installment from Marvel, where he was also one of the leads, pointed out her credited role during their conversation, Johansson cleared things up.

"I asked to have my credit removed because I wasn't involved," she said.

Harbour teased his on-screen daughter following the revelation.

"You hated the movie that much?" he joked.

However, Johansson shut down the assumption, emphasizing her lack of participation rather than disapproval. She implied that her Thunderbolts* credit likely stemmed from contractual obligations, as the film featured her Black Widow co-stars Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova) and Harbour (Alexei Shostakov).

Scarlett Johansson has had an up-and-down relationship with Marvel in the past few years. After her character Natasha Romanoff was killed off in Avengers: Endgame, she headlined the prequel Black Widow—a release tainted by her lawsuit accusing Disney of breaching her contract by releasing the movie simultaneously on Disney+.

The lawsuit has since been settled, and Johansson has also released a statement expressing her relief over the same.

"I am happy to have resolved our differences with Disney. I'm incredibly proud of the work we've done together over the years and have greatly enjoyed my creative relationship with the team. I look forward to continuing our collaboration in years to come," she said.

The connection to the Lively-Baldoni feud

In December 2024, Blake Lively filed a lawsuit against Justin Baldoni for sexual harassment, claiming that he led a smear campaign after she complained about the work environment on the set of It Ends With Us. Baldoni's $400 million countersuit, which was dismissed on June 9, 2025, with an ability to refile, alleged that Lively and Reynolds defamed him to take creative control.

In an interview with Vanity Fair published on May 14, 2025, Scarlett Johansson was asked about Justin Baldoni, whose studio, Wayfarer Studios, co-financed her film, Eleanor the Great.

"They were super supportive throughout the process, but yeah, such weird timing," Johansson stated.

As per the BBC, the trial between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni is scheduled for March 2026.
