American podcaster Alex Cooper, in her recently released docuseries, discussed her rumoured fallout with her former co-host, Sofia Franklyn, of the Call Her Daddy podcast. The docuseries Call Her Alex, which premiered on Hulu on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, provided insight into the beginning of Copper’s famous podcast.
Sofia Franklyn is a media personality and entrepreneur born in Utah, as per People. She co-hosted the Call Her Daddy podcast presented by Barstool Sports from 2018 to 2020 alongside Alex Cooper. She has launched her own podcast, Sofia with an F, which reportedly focuses on dating, celebrity interviews, and s*x.
Alex Cooper, in her Hulu docuseries, talked about the reason why her former co-host, Sofia Franklyn, left their Call Her Daddy podcast. According to People, speaking of her dynamic with the fellow podcaster, Cooper said:
“It was the classic, ‘You think you see something online and people genuinely believe you’re like sisters, but our relationship was so awful.’”
In her docuseries, Alex Cooper explained that she and Sofia Franklyn had difficulty working together. She noted that conflicts further elevated when the duo tried to renegotiate their initial contract with Barstool Sports.
“Unfortunately, we had signed a three-year contract with Barstool Sports, and they owned our IP, so Sofia and I went in together and we renegotiated our contract.”
Alex Cooper also revealed the “deal of a lifetime” that Barstool founder and CEO, Dave Portnoy, offered them after their success grew. She further explained:
“He said, ‘If you stay at Barstool for one more year, you can own Call Her Daddy. Sofia didn’t want to take the deal, but I did, so I stayed… I realized the ‘Daddy Gang’ was bigger than both of us.’”
Notably, Cooper began her career in podcasting with Barstool Sports. In 2018, she launched her podcast, Call Her Daddy, with Sofia Franklyn, who left her co-host position in 2020. As per ScreenRant, the two launched the podcast while they were roommates in New York City.

The 30-year-old who co-created and hosts the Call Her Daddy podcast reminisced about the difficult times she had in the early days of her podcasting journey. Cooper in the Call Her Alex docuseries said:
“When I was told, ‘Your show is the most listened to show in the world for podcasting by women,’ I’m like, ‘Well, that is probably the coolest statement ever’…But it became really difficult to enjoy the process.”
Cooper also recalled alleged money troubles with Barstool Sports. She further talked about her and her co-host, Sofia Franklyn's, different intentions for the podcast they started together.
"Sofia and I were making the company millions of dollars… We absolutely deserved more money,” Alex Cooper said.
Alex Cooper, who is a Boston University alum, signed a $60 million three-year deal with Spotify in 2021 and brought her Call Her Daddy podcast to the network. In 2024, as per People, she signed a $125 million three-year deal with the radio network SiriusXM.
Meanwhile, her two-part show, Call Her Alex, also delves into the background of her first-ever live comedy tour, the "Unwell Tour", including the stage production, rehearsals, scriptwriting, as well as Copper's personal preparations.
