It's Mother's Day in The Chi season 7 episode 4, and everyone is celebrating their mothers. In Emmett's case, he's hosting all of his exes and the mothers of his kids under one roof. However, some celebrations are tense, and others are mournful, especially in Alicia's case, in the get-together she hosts for mothers who have lost their sons like her.
Like Alicia. Tiff enjoys the Mother's Day celebrations, given that she's also expecting a new baby. However, the festivities veil a sorrowful feeling after Rob's death. Plus, she can't get the feeling that there's no justice for Rob's death yet. Tiff thinks Alicia killed the wrong guy—that Zay wasn't Rob's killer.
She may be right, but she has no proof. And, ironically, she opens up about her suspicions about Rob's real murderer. Meanwhile, Papa finds himself in a predicament between Pastor Zeke and his father's legacy.

Tiff airs her suspicions about Rob's death in The Chi season 7 episode 4

The Mother's Day celebration in The Chi season 7 episode 4 brings a mix of emotions for Tiff. It's an upbeat party, but her hormones, as people around her point out, keep her from enjoying the festivities. She also snaps at her mom over disciplining her son. However, that's not all, because it turns out, Rob's death is still boggling Tiff's mind.
It's understandable, especially because she's carrying Rob's baby, and it's only been months since he died. In The Chi season 7 episode 1, Alicia has looked for Rob's killer, and Nuck points her toward Zay. She kills Zay in the name of avenging her dead son. However, Tiff has a feeling that Alicia got the wrong guy.
After the Mother's Day party at Emmett and Kiesha's house in The Chi season 7 episode 4, Nuck drives Tiff home. For several episodes, Nuck has been getting close to Tiff, and in episode 4, just as Tiff is about to get out of the car, Nuck leans toward her for a kiss. But before that can happen, Tiff stops him, telling Nuck that she can't.
She opens up about something that has been bugging her mind. Tiff tells Nuck that she thinks Alicia killed the wrong guy—she thinks Zay wasn't the one who killed Rob. She has no evidence—just a feeling she has is what she tells Nuck. Tiff is right, Zay didn't kill Rob. However, she doesn't know that.

Ironically, the person who knows the identity of Rob's murderer is Nuck, because he killed Rob himself in The Chi season 6. While Nuck has been trying to atone for his past actions, it's unlikely that the guilt will leave him just yet. Tiff's confession unnerves him, as seen at the end of The Chi season 7 episode 4 when he reaches for a cigarette to smoke.
Family reunion for Trig, Reg, and Jake in The Chi season 7 episode 4
The new season of The Chi appears to be family-reunion-themed for Jake. In The Chi season 7 episode 3, his brother Reg makes a surprise appearance after letting everyone think that he died back in season 2. There's another reunion for Jake in The Chi season 7 episode 4, with his mom, Peaches, joining in the festivities of Mother's Day.
However, not everyone is happy about Peaches' return. He's there because Reg has invited her, and Jake is happy to have his mom around. Trig, on the other hand, isn't thrilled after Peaches bailed on them when they were younger because of her addiction. Trig has been forced to step up to take care of his brothers, and he still feels that Peaches has robbed him of the life he could have had.
In the end, however, Trig somewhat reconciles with his mom after Peaches opens up about not having a mother while she was growing up. Somehow, Trig understands or is trying to understand that his mother didn't know any better. The four of them celebrate Mother's Day with Peaches' macaroni with extra paprika, the same meal they had while they were growing up.

Pastor Zeke helps Papa in The Chi season 7 episode 4, but it comes at a price

Papa's story has taken a backseat in the last couple of episodes of The Chi season 7. However, he returns in The Chi season 7 episode 4 in a bit of a pickle. His mom is having problems dealing with his father's church, especially the financials. His father did everything himself, and with him gone, the responsibility has fallen onto Papa's mom.
She admits that Papa's father, Pastor Jackson, has left them in debt, but she doesn't want Papa to ask Pastor Zeke for help because she doesn't trust him. Papa, however, ignores his mother and still goes to Pastor Zeke to air out their financial problems. He wants to ask Pastor Zeke for a loan, saying that he would take extra shifts at the church to pay for it.
However, Pastor Zeke and Charles are not having any of it. They want to give the money to Papa, but what comes out of Pastor Zeke's mouth next spells trouble for Papa and his father's legacy. Pastor Zeke tells him to consider the money as a down payment for his father's church. It turns out that Pastor Zeke's help comes with a price that Papa isn't sure he's willing to pay.
He says that the church isn't for sale, but Pastor Zeke tells him that everything has a price. The Chi season 7 episode 4 ends with Papa still contemplating whether he should take the money or not. Only the next episode will determine if Papa will agree to the deal and how the recent events will affect how he sees Pastor Zeke.
