The Terminal List: Dark Wolf centers on the Navy SEAL officers Ben Edwards and Raife Hastings. The first episode depicts them getting dishonorably discharged for killing the ISIS leader Hamid Al-Jabouri, who was also a CIA asset, in Mosul, Iraq, in 2015.

The CIA spymaster, Jed Haverford, recruits both these men for a dangerous mission involving Iran's nuclear bomb. They are tasked with killing the arms dealer, Massoud Danawi, who supplied weapons to ISIS, in Krems, Austria. The group also features two Mossad operatives, Tal Varon and Eliza Perash, CIA contractor Jules Landry, ISF officer Mohammed 'Mo' Farooq, and the new recruit, Ish Reinhart.

In The Terminal List: Dark Wolf season 1 episode 3, Farooq pretends to be Dawani and meets Professor Molnar, who shares evidence confirming that Iran is building a nuclear bomb in exchange for five million dollars. Their interaction is also witnessed by a mysterious group, who end up killing Ish during a deadly confrontation.
