Best and worst of RAW- 23rd April, 2018

There were hits and misses throughout the show
There were hits and misses throughout the show

RAW came to us from St. Louis, MO, this week in what was the go-home show for the Greatest Royal Rumble. There were some hits and there were some misses. As always, we will chronicle our feelings in this article. Our favourite segments shall be dubbed 'Best' and the segments we did not like- 'Worst'.

As always, we invite you to share your thoughts about the show. Did you think it was a worthy show for the Greatest Royal Rumble? How excited are you for the second grand pay-per-view this month after WrestleMania?

Moreover, we would like to congratulate RAW for staying on air for 1300 successful episodes. Few others have managed a feat this grand.

Now that we've said all we needed to, let's find out if WWE delivered or not, this week!

#1 Best: A ruthless duo

Ziggler and McIntyre seem like a formidable alliance
Ziggler and McIntyre seem like a formidable alliance

There was a lot of humour on this week's show. Some of it was actually quite good. We are glad to report that Ziggler and McIntyre mean business. They do not fall into the cheesy humour camp and that's quite heartening.

Ziggler and McIntyre have been dubbed by some as the new Shawn Michaels and Diesel. We guess it may be too soon to put the duo in that bracket, but the fact remains that they are both incredible athletes and they're great on the microphone too. We especially loved the promos they cut after their match with Titus Worldwide.

We wonder if they will challenge for the RAW Tag Team Championships down the line after a champion is crowned at the Greatest Royal Rumble this Friday. They are nothing like any other team on the roster and much like Samoa Joe have a 'seriousness' about them that is heartening to see.

#1 Worst: Lesnar kicking off the show

Brock Lesnar's appearances feel like a waste of time
Brock Lesnar's appearances feel like a waste of time

Brock Lesnar did not get a warm welcome from the St. Louis crowd. This is because Heyman rattled off the same old promo once again and Reigns came forth to have a staredown. No blows were thrown and no storyline was advanced. Lesnar's appearances on RAW have become the new bathroom break spot.

It was also silly to equate a WWE steel cage and a UFC octagon, in our opinion. The WWE Universe of today is savvy and not so easily misled, we believe.

#2 Best: A Moment of Bliss

Alexa Bliss was incredible in this segment
Alexa Bliss was incredible in this segment

Let's face it, folks. Alexa Bliss is much better than the rest of the RAW locker room on the microphone. 'A Moment of Bliss' is a terrific way for WWE to build heat for her matches, considering that she's not exactly Asuka when the bell rings. The ovation that Nia Jax got during her segment just proved the same.

We do hope that this becomes a weekly thing. Whoever scripted Bliss' promo this week was on the money and did a fantastic job. Stories create interest in matches and matches without heat are quite pointless.

#2 Worst: The Riott Squad

Morgan and Logan just don't seem ready for RAW
Morgan and Logan just don't seem ready for RAW yet

Don't get us wrong, guys. Ruby Riott is great both on the microphone and in the ring. Somehow Morgan and Logan do not seem to be at the same level. A run in NXT would have benefited them to a great degree.

The announcers often make excuses for their sloppiness in the ring. They say there's nothing pretty about Logan's offense. We feel that most people in 2018 can see sloppiness for what it is.

The promo segment with the women was pretty bad too. Logan is easily the worst of the whole lot.

#3 Best: Chad Gable's win

We're thrilled for Gable if this is the start of his singles push
We're thrilled for Gable if this is the start of his singles push

Chad Gable defeated former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal in his first RAW singles match. We are thrilled for the performer because of how talented the man has always been. People have always said how he should have been the breakout star and not Jordan. Could his win be the beginning of a big singles push?

We must also commend Mahal for playing his part in the backstage segment leading up to the match. That interaction with Gable was hilarious, especially when Mahal confused Gable with Nicholas.

#3 Worst: Greatest Royal Rumble opponents team up

Should competitors be teaming up days before their ladder match?
Should competitors be teaming up days before their ladder match?

Finn Balor and Seth Rollins are always exciting to watch whether they're facing each other or teaming up. Only we thought this wasn't the right week for them to be teaming up. This is because the two men will compete in a few days. And the Intercontinental Championship will be on the line!

Also, the Miztourage just seemed like two opponents far below their level? Did anyone doubt the eventual outcome?

#4 Best/worst: Losing steam every single week

We love Sasha Banks. We think Bayley is gold. Somehow, their tensions have just boiled over for too long. There seems to be no conclusion to their passive aggressiveness.

We love the fact that WWE is trying to tell a story. We hate the fact that the story's exceeded its lifespan. Now, it just seems like overkill.

Let's hope WWE goes somewhere with this plot. We both know these women certainly deserve better.

Do we really want to see this picture every week?

We most certainly don't
