10 of the funniest WWE Superstars in real life

New Day have a funny gimmick in the WWE

While WWE Superstars aren’t known to be funny while in character (unless they are Too Cool or New Day), once the cameras stop rolling, graciousness returns to the seemingly tough lads and they let their true colours show.

Some of the names on this list might come as a surprise, judging by the roles they play on television, but once normalcy returns, they are some of the most hilarious people to be around!

#10 Rusev

Not many know of the Bulgarian’s funny side

The Bulgarian brute-force is actually quite a funny-man in reality. Those who follow him on social media know for a fact that Rusev is totally different from what he is portrayed to be in the World Wrestling Entertainment.

Rusev enjoys making people laugh, which is why he takes to his Twitter to post things about his life, in jest.

Fans of the World Wrestling Entertainment would fondly recall his Tweet directed at Chris Jericho after he had defeated Roman Reigns after numerous failed attempts, to clinch the US Championship.

#9 Bray Wyatt

The funny scary guy

While Bray Wyatt may come off as an intimidating freakshow, evil incarnate in the ring, outside of the World Wrestling Entertainment he is all about making people laugh.

Contrary to his character in the WWE as an evil cult leader who is adept at walking like a spider, something that would definitely suit a Takashi Miike film, he is quite the funny man in reality (he has the face of a comedian, for sure) especially when it comes to entertaining fans.

Had it not been for professional wrestling, Bray Wyatt would have definitely been a hit as a laid back high-schooler in a stoner film.

#8 Seth Rollins

The goofy Rollins

Seth Rollins has a perennially serious face when he’s in character, but ‘beyond the mat’ and outside the World Wrestling Entertainment, he is quite the likeable guy. He seldom shares pictures on his social media handles, but in the ones he does, he looks like nothing like he does in character.

He often poses funnily in pictures and can go to any lengths to make people laugh. Beyond the realms of the sports entertainment business, he has a knack of cracking jokes and having people in splits.

#7 Kane

One of the wittiest in the business

Kane and funny? You must be kidding me? But despite his character as a psychotic, unhinged personality who likes setting people ablaze, the real-life Kane is a good-humoured gentleman who is as goofy as he is smart (PhD doesn’t come easy!)

Kane is known for his extremely witty sense of humour, which I’m presuming, spawns from his extremely well-read self. Even while in character, Kane has notably pulled off some funny moments, the best out of which is when he featured in a segment alongside Hulk Hogan and The Rock!

Well, that gave us an insight into Glen Jacobs’ funny self.

#6 Finn Balor

Balor is a funny Irishman

Finn Balor, hailed as the “Demon King”, is one of the scariest looking dudes in the World Wrestling Entertainment roster. Added to that, Balor is an Irish man and you know that it doesn’t take long to tick an Irish guy off!

But despite his demonic appearance (in storyline of course; otherwise he’s a fairly handsome lad) Finn Balor is quite a likeable personality outside the ring. He is always seen smiling in pictures and is known for making people laugh. He poses weirdly in his pictures, yet always with a grin on his face.

He is extremely good-mannered and good-humoured with his fans whom he meets.

#5 Goldberg

Whose joke is next?

Given Goldberg’s temper, he is definitely the antithesis of “funny”. But that is the character that he portrays. Once Goldberg is done jackhammering unsuspecting Superstars and spearing them in half, calmness and good humour return to the beast.

Goldberg is known for being a humorous man and the world got to see his funny side in two of his films, Ready to Rumble and The Longest Yard.

#4 Braun Strowman

Strowman can pout

The six-foot-eight mammoth specimen is an absolute killer inside the ring, which is a well-established fact. But not many know that Braun Strowman has a funny and extremely lovable side to him.

The giant loves to make people laugh and some of the pictures in which he has been captured, stand testimony to this; particularly the goofy one in which he is posing in a Wonder Woman costume. Also, he pouts like a real damsel!

#3 The Undertaker

Deadman laughing

The Undertaker, someone who has seldom broken character on live television, is not someone who would particularly be known as a funny guy. But, Mark Calaway definitely is! Once the Deadman attire is off, The Undertaker is a fun-loving person who enjoys good humour.

Some of his off-the-record interviews are a proof of that. A Texan-at heart, The Deadman is a laid back character who is adept at straight-faced humour.

#2 Samoa Joe

Joe is a funny-man

Samoa Joe’s tough, piercing looks might not make him look funny but behind the scenes when the cameras aren’t rolling, Samoa is one of the funniest people to be around with.

Even his Twitter bio reads: My name is Joe, I kick people for money. It’s a pretty sweet gig.

#1 Brock Lesnar

Here comes the joker

The beast incarnate makes it to the top of this list! The man who loves to make people writhe and cry out in pain is actually one of the funniest people in the World Wrestling Entertainment today!

Lesnar loves to joke around and has a knack for cracking funny jokes.

He goofs around with his fans, irrespective of whether they’re old or young. Upon ESPN’s request for a prank video, Lesnar volunteered to be a part of it, showing his funny side to the world.
