Grand Slam in WWE or any other professional wrestling promotion is a situation in which a particular wrestler wins every title available in the promotion at least once. WWE has seen its Grand Slam rules change over the years due to the European and Hardcore championships becoming defunct.

The current rules state that a wrestler has to win the Intercontinental, US, either of Raw or SDL tag team championships and one of the two heavyweight belts. Under the current rules, only 7 wrestlers have achieved the Grand Slam in WWE. Dean Ambrose became the latest addition to this Elite Club when he won the Raw Tag Team Championship along with Seth Rollins.

In this list, we look at 10 current superstars who are one championship away from being recognised as Grand Slam champions in WWE.

#10 Shelton Benjamin

Could the Gold Standard win the Golden Belt soon?
Could the Gold Standard win the top prize soon?

Shelton Benjamin recently returned to Smackdown Live as Chad Gable's new tag team partner. However, WWE fans are no strangers to this athletic superstar. Benjamin in his previous stint with WWE was a major player defeating the likes of Chris Jericho and Triple H.

Shelton has won the Intercontinental Championship three times, the US championship once and the tag team championship along with Charlie Haas during his run from 2002-10. He needs a heavyweight championship win to complete the Grand Slam and since he is currently on Smackdown, he should be setting his eyes on Jinder Mahal next.

Shelton Benjamin was regarded as one of the finest superstars to have never won the WWE Championship. He has a decent recognition with the fans and his return fetched an overwhelming response from the WWE Universe. A decent run with the title for The Gold Standard could be a smart move by WWE.

#9 Kofi Kingston

Kofi Kingston has been in WWE for nearly ten years now and has a tremendous fan following amongst the WWE Universe. Kofi has gained widespread acclaim due to his performances at the Royal Rumble every year and has never failed to give a quality showing inside the ring.

Kofi Kingston is currently part of The New Day and, under the Freebird rule, has won three tag championships with Big E and Xavier Woods. Kofi has also won the Intercontinental and US Championships before, thus making the WWE Championship the only missing piece in his cabinet.

Kofi was given a decent push back in 2009-10 during which he consistently was part of the main event program. Kofi has since fallen down to the mid-card but his performances have still been entertaining for the fans.

#8 Kane

The Red Monster
The Big Red Machine

The Big Red Machine, Kane, has had an illustrious career in WWE. His debut at Hell in a Cell in 1997 is still one of the finest introductions any wrestler has ever had in WWE. Kane has been one of the safest workers in WWE for years now and his dedication to the business is incomparable.

Kane was the third Grand Slam champion under the previous rules. He is a 3-time World champion, 12-time Tag Team champion,2-time IC champion and a 1-time Hardcore champion. Under the new rules, Kane needs a US championship to become a Grand Slam Champion.

Currently, Kane is on a hiatus and has been absent from WWE programming for the better part of last year. However, he could still return for one last run and a US championship run can never be ruled out for the veteran.

#7 Sheamus

Sheamus debuted in WWE back in 2009 and by 2010, he defeated John Cena to win his first world championship. His push was not appreciated by many and his time as a world champion was rather forgettable.

Since then, Sheamus has improved tremendously which has led him to become a 4-time World Champion, 2-time US champion, King of the Ring, Royal Rumble winner and Mr Money in the Bank. He along with Cesaro, dethroned The New Day, ending their record-setting Tag Team championship run.

Sheamus has a pretty neat list of achievements in WWE although the IC championship has continued to elude him. Sheamus still has a lot of gas left in the tank and could become a Grand Slam champion in the near future.

#6 Jeff Hardy

The Charismatic Enigma

Jeff Hardy had his first match in WWE way back in 1994 against Razor Ramon (a.k.a Scott Hall). He has been in WWE for a long time now and has amassed several championships during his tenure.

'Brother Nero', along with Matt Hardy, has won the tag team championships several times, most recently at Wrestlemania 33. He has also won the Intercontinental Championship, the Hardcore Championship, the European Championship, the Lightweight Championship and most importantly the WWE Championship.

Jeff is a Grand Slam Champion under the old rules but needs to win the US championship to join the Grand Slam club under the new rules. A major fan favourite, Jeff should be exploring singles action soon after his return from injury and a run in the mid-card would be a delight for the fans.

#5 Kevin Owens

Kevin Owens is known as 'The Prizefighter, and staying true to his persona, he has claimed almost every prize in WWE during his short career. Soon after his debut in 2015, he challenged John Cena for US championship in a losing effort. Following that loss, he set his eyes on the IC championship and won it twice in a span of six months.

Triple H helped Kevin Owens to defeat Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns, giving the Prize Fighter his first major championship in the form of Universal Championship. After losing the Universal title, Owens defeated his former best friend, Chris Jericho, for the US championship.

Owens has spent nearly 50% of his time on the main roster as a champion and the rest he has spent chasing those championships. A tag team championship for Owens will make him a Grand Slam Champion, and given his love for title runs, expect him to become a Grand Slam champion pretty soon.

#4 Randy Orton

The Apex Predator
The Apex Predator

The Viper has been one of the top superstars in WWE for over a decade now. He has won several championships in the last fifteen years with WWE and has already set himself up for an induction to the Hall of Fame in future.

Orton has won 13 world titles in WWE, only John Cena, Ric Flair and Triple H have won more titles. The Apex Predator is also a 2-time Royal Rumble winner, Mr Money in the Bank and has main-evented Wrestlemania.

Orton just needs the US championship to become a Grand Slam champion. That title currently lies with AJ Styles and fans have been wanting a Styles v Orton feud for quite some time now. Orton has plenty of time left in his career and is a sure entry into the Grand Slam club in the near future.

#3 Seth Rollins

Seth FREAKIN Rollins
Seth FREAKIN Rollins

After the Shield's breakup in 2014, Seth Rollins almost instantly received a mega-push which resulted in him holding the US championship and the WWE championship at the same time. In fact, his cash-in at Wrestlemania 31 is still considered one of the best moments in WWE history, and fans lament the fact that he can't save them at WrestleMania 34.

Seth Rollins is seen as one of the top superstars of the company today and has an awesome career record. He is currently the Raw Tag Team champion with Dean Ambrose, a title he previously held with Roman Reigns.

The Kingslayer just needs to win the Intercontinental Championship to complete his Grand Slam, and given the kind of trust WWE has in Rollins, it is only a matter of time.

#2 John Cena

The Champ Is Here!
The Champ Is Here!

For any normal person, seeing John Cena on this list will come as a major surprise. John Cena has been at the top of WWE for over a decade now and has won several championships during this period. However, the Intercontinental Championship has eluded Cena for years now and he will be looking to set the record straight soon.

Cena has a heated history with The Miz, the current IC champion, and a feud between these two for the title could be a memorable one. Miz has been synonymous with the IC title for the past year and Cena returning to challenge The Miz would be a pleasant sight.

#1 Roman Reigns

The Big Dog

The Big Dog

WWE's poster boy, Roman Reigns has done a lot in his short career in WWE. He has defeated the Undertaker, won the Royal Rumble, defeated John Cena and is rumoured to conquer the Beast, Brock Lesnar, as well.

He has won the WWE Championship, the US championship and the Tag Team championship. He needs the Intercontinental Championship to join the Grand Slam club. Out of all the wrestlers mentioned in the list, Roman is the most likely to complete the Grand Slam first as he is currently in a feud with the Intercontinental Champion, Miz.

Roman doesn't exactly get the positive reactions WWE expect of him, but he still has a major fan base and is one of the most popular wrestlers in WWE today. Roman is going to win the IC title pretty soon and Dean Ambrose will welcome his brother into the Grand Slam club.
