#4 Failed: Kane

Due to Roman Reigns suffering from an illness, the main event of the TLC pay-per-view in October 2017 saw the returning Kurt Angle become an honorary Shield member by joining forces with Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose against Braun Strowman, Kane, Cesaro, Sheamus and The Miz in a 5-on-3 TLC match.

The story going into the PPV main event revolved around The Shield’s first match together again as a trio following their long-awaited reunion, while the focus turned to Angle’s unexpected in-ring comeback after Reigns was forced to miss the event.

However, when the show was over, the biggest story of them all surrounded Strowman, who became a babyface for the first time in WWE after being attacked by his own partners – notably Kane – during the chaotic 35-minute encounter.

“The Big Red Machine” and “The Monster Among Men” looked like an unstoppable force at times earlier on in the match, but Kane ended their brief alliance by launching several steel chairs onto Strowman on the stage area before combining with the rest of his partners to throw him in a garbage truck.

Needless to say, the two giants have not teamed with each other since.
