Shawn Michaels was back in WWE and was friends with Triple H as a part of D-Generation X in 2007. The two wrestlers often assisted each other in their matches, but there were times that they went into their own feuds and focused on their own careers instead.

Shawn Michaels and John Cena were not supposed to have a feud. Triple H was supposed to face Cena in a rematch from their WrestleMania bout, but thanks to a quad injury, he could not be at WrestleMania. Instead, Shawn Michaels faced John Cena and the two had an extraordinary match at WrestleMania.

However, they were not satisfied with that extraordinary display and instead decided to face each other in a match that went on for almost 60 minutes on RAW. WWE continued to advertise other matches during this time but they would never happen as Michaels and Cena showcased one of the best matches of either men’s career. The match is considered to be one of the best matches to have ever taken place during a regular RAW.
