The 2023 WWE Draft took place earlier this year. Some stars remained on their home brand, while others found their way somewhere new entirely. The powerful Von Wagner was one superstar who ended up in an odd position.
Wagner is a second-generation superstar who came up through NXT beginning with 2.0 and remains a part of the white & gold brand today. Robert Stone is managing him and is beloved for slamming superstars through the announcer's table.
Von was listed as a free agent in the 2023 WWE Draft, which, in theory, meant he was called up to the main roster but wasn't designated to an official brand. The 29-year-old was in a Battle Royal but has yet to debut properly.
That could change on this week's RAW, however.
On the latest episode of WWE NXT, Von went one-on-one with Bron Breakker. The two had a fierce rivalry that even saw the latter ruthlessly injure the big man. Von came back, however, and the two fought on NXT.
In the end, Von lost the bout but won the war. He hit a Powerbomb on the former NXT Champion through a table. That is seemingly the end of their feud and could be the end of his time on NXT. Wagner's next step could be joining the main roster full-time as soon as Monday. Could the 29-year-old dominate RAW?
A handful of WWE free agents are seemingly lost in the shuffle
As noted, the 2023 Draft featured free agents. This was a new concept and ultimately had mixed results. Mustafa Ali, Shelton Benjamin, Dolph Ziggler, and Elias were all free agents later released by WWE. Ali was the surprise of the bunch, as he was being used regularly on NXT.
Meanwhile, Brock Lesnar is a dominant free agent. Baron Corbin was able to show up on NXT, and he successfully reinvented himself. Additionally, Cedric Alexander may finally be in for a push on SmackDown.
However, a handful of other free agents appear to be lost in the shuffle altogether. Xyon Quinn was a surprising draft pick, but he's yet to do much on any of the three brands. Omos and MVP have also been away from television.
While not a free agent, Odyssey Jones is another person who was drafted to the main roster, but he's yet to even debut. Hopefully, these stars will soon have their time to shine.
