#1. The Legion of Doom
The top spot goes to The Legion of Doom. Animal and Hawk were unmatched in popularity. Yet, with an uncommon mixture, they went on to become the single most dominant tag team in WWE history. At Summerslam 1991, The Legion of Doom defeated The Nasty boys for their first tag team championship.
They are the only tag team to hold the WWE, NWA and AWA world tag team titles. The Legion of Doom was inducted in the Hall of Fame in 2011. They have a record of 2 WWF tag team champions, 4 NWA national tag team champion, and 2 IWGP tag team championship among many other regional and territory based titles.
After early year’s of success, The Legion of Doom left the WWE for 1992 but returned in 1997 and started winning tag team titles again. The duo progressed from an early age winning the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Rookie of the year in 1983 and tag team of the year, the very next year, a feat which no man has achieved till date.
