#1 Randy Orton defeats Kofi Kingston to become the new WWE Champion
Kofi Kingston had his WrestleMania moment when he defeated Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship back in April. There hasn't been much wrong with his title reign and people have enjoyed it thus far. But just like with Becky Lynch & Seth Rollins, people are looking for a change. Something fresh and new, something that they haven't seen for a long time.
Randy Orton almost won the opportunity to face Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam, but Rollins beat him. The next night on SmackDown, he pinned Kingston clean to win a 6-man tag team match. And because Kingston is an awesome babyface champion, he gave Orton a title shot at SummerSlam. This is definitely the "fresh" feud people have been asking for.
There is nothing against Kingston here, but as October nears and SmackDown's move to FOX comes closer, Randy Orton is the better choice for the WWE Champion. He has the name as well as the record that FOX would like to see in the face of SmackDown. 'The Viper' hasn't been the WWE Champion in a long time. It is the right time for WWE to pull the trigger at SummerSlam.
Kofi has had a great run with the title. But it's time to move on to something bigger. This feud could possibly continue for maybe one or two more months, but Randy Orton should be the next big name champion.
