Shinsuke Nakamura created waves during his time in the development brand NXT, and he was destined for greater things on the main roster.

He won the Royal Rumble in 2018 which was a big achievement for the Japanese Superstar and got his opportunity for the WWE Championship against AJ Styles at WrestleMania. He lost the match but got subsequent chances which he couldn’t capitalise on.

He is now the WWE United States Champion and in his first reign, he hasn’t been doing much since winning the championship. He hasn’t defended his championship in a while and even went without featuring on the Hell in a Cell and Super Showdown pay-per-views.

That makes one wonder why he is skipping Crown Jewel, and there must be some reason behind it as he is lowering the value of the US Championship.

A reason for that could be Japan’s strained ties with the Kingdom following the death of the journalist, which could have resulted in him holding back from the pay-per-view too. Even though that is just a speculation, it is a point to note that he was at the Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia earlier in the year and not featuring in Crown Jewel could be the result of some political tensions.
