AJ Lee was one of the most popular female wrestlers in the company throughout her time in WWE but decided to walk away from the business back in 2015 when she announced her retirement.
Lee is the wife of former World Champion CM Punk and has been successful as an author since departing from WWE. At present she is working as a comic book writer while her autobiography is being turned into a TV project.
Lee hasn't stepped into a wrestling ring in over five years, but many fans believed she would one day make her return. Sadly the former Divas Champion suffered damage to her cervical spine which was one of the main reasons why she made the decision to retire. This injury has also been one of the main reasons why Lee hasn't returned to the ring since.
Lee even reiterated the fact that she was retired back in December 2019 when she was asked about making an appearance on WWE Backstage alongside her husband.
