The Royal Rumble match is one of the WWE's best and most prestigious match-ups and has a very interesting format that intrigues fans and superstars alike. The winner of the Royal Rumble match earns a shot at a World Championship (i.e the Universal title and the WWE title for the Men's Rumble match and the Raw Women's Championship and SmackDown Women's Championship for the Women's Royal Rumble match) of their choosing at WrestleMania, 'The Grandest Stage of Them All' in sports entertainment.

Winning the Rumble match is a huge honour for WWE's roster and is a huge achievement for WWE stars. A Rumble win will catapult a WWE star to the stratosphere of WWE as the winner is guaranteed a title shot on WWE's greatest spectacle. Many stars like Brock Lesnar and Batista had their respective careers catapulted to great heights with a Royal Rumble win.

However, not everyone gets to win the Royal Rumble match as it traditionally takes place twice a year ( including the Women's Rumble match), barring a few exceptions. Many legends and future Hall of Famers haven't won the Royal Rumble match in spite of competing in it a handful of times.

Nevertheless, let's look at 3 of the greatest superstars who have never won the Royal Rumble match.

#3 Kane

Kane is a certified and bonafide WWE legend and future WWE Hall of Famer. His name has become synonymous with Royal Rumble match due to the numerous achievement he has accomplished in this match, but in spite of all that he has done in the Rumble match over the past two decades, he still hasn't won the match till date.

The Big Red Machine holds the record for most appearances in a Rumble match and the most total cumulative eliminations in Royal Rumble match. He once held the record for the most eliminations in a single Rumble match for well over a decade, before it was broken by Roman Reigns in 2014.

It's appalling that such a legend hasn't won a Rumble match, especially considering the history he has at the event.

#2 CM Punk

CM Punk was one of the longest reigning WWE Champion in the modern era. He was a two-time Money in the Bank winner, former tag-team champion and was one of WWE's top stars in the early 2010s before his departure in 2014. It's a huge disappointment that a star of his calibre hasn't won a Royal Rumble match.

Punk competed in multiple Rumble matches and had a great record in the Rumble match, having eliminated 7 men in the 2011 Royal Rumble match. His very last appearance in WWE was in the 2014 Royal Rumble match, where he lasted about an hour and entered the final four before being eliminated by Kane. Punk walked out of WWE the next night and hasn't been seen in a WWE arena ever since.

It's highly likely that Punk would've won the Rumble match in the coming years had he stayed with the WWE. Now that Punk is done with the WWE, it's unlikely that he'll ever win a Rumble match.

#1 Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho is a nine-time Intercontinental Champion, six-time World Champion, former tag-team champion and a Grand Slam Champion. He is a sure-fire future WWE Hall of Famer. One thing that shockingly hasn't been given 'The Gift of Jericho' is the Royal Rumble match.

Jericho has competed in eleven Royal Rumble matches and has spent the longest cumulative time in Royal Rumble matches. He came close to winning it at the 2012 Royal Rumble match in 2012. He was one of the favourites to win the 2017 Rumble match but was unable to get the job done. Jericho has come close to winning the Rumble numerous times, but it's unfortunate that he hasn't won one till date.

Jericho has pursued a wrestling career outside of WWE and has only a few years left in him. With such little time left for him as a wrestler, it's extremely improbable that he will ever win a Rumble match.
