The Undertaker is one of the greatest WWE Superstars of all time. In an unprecedented career spanning almost three decades, ‘The Phenom’ has traversed generations, rode through decades, and has enthralled and bewitched the WWE Universe.

And, when it comes to WrestleMania, there is no Superstar who can be taken in the same breath as ‘The Phenom’. Out of the 35 editions of WrestleMania, ‘The DeadMan’ has been a part of 26 of them. This has to be stated starkly so that the magnitude of the statement sinks in.

And, his run of 21 consecutive victories at The Grandest Stage of Them All, famously referred to as ‘The Streak’ places him at a pedestal that other mortals cannot fathom. Some of the biggest names in the industry, including the likes of Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Randy Orton, John Cena, Batista, and Ric Flair have fallen before The Undertaker at the Grandest Stage of Them All.

Now, with the Undertaker more than 54 years old, and in the twilight of his unparalleled career, WrestleMania XXXVIII might well see him walk away into the sunset.

In this article, let us look at three dream opponents for the Undertaker at next year’s WrestleMania.

#3 John Cena

WrestleMania XXXIV witnessed the WWE Universe finally getting the match that they had craved for. John Cena and The Undertaker had grown into two of the biggest legends of the industry, and a matchup of this magnitude sent the fans into a tizzy.

But then, what transpired in the ring sent the WWE Universe into a state of shock. John Cena offered almost zero offense in the entire match up, and The Undertaker squashed his opponent inside three minutes to go 24-2 at WrestleMania. In fact, the Undertaker’s entrance was longer than the entire duration of the match.

Now, a match of this magnitude turned out to a dampener. Surely, the WWE should correct this anomaly. And, the best way is to book The Undertaker Vs John Cena yet again at WrestleMania XXXVI.

A Superstar who can retire The Undertaker certainly needs to a legend in his own right, and Cena certainly fits into the bill. And, a stellar match up this time around can make this an all-time classic and a match that the WWE Universe remembers with fondness.

#2 Shawn Michaels

At WrestleMania XXVI, The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels wrestled probably the greatest match in WrestleMania history. The way the two legends told a classic story to the fans, the emotions running throughout the bout, and the in-ring action that these two offered made the WWE Universe gape at them in awe.

Ever since that match, Michaels has not wrestled another match at The Show of Shows. And indeed, all of us had thought that Michaels had retired from in-ring competition for good. But WWE sprung a surprise by booking Michaels for a tag team match against the Brothers of Destruction at Crown Jewel last year.

And upon his return, Michaels indeed proved that he still has it in him to deliver 'Show-Stopping' performances.

Now, all legendary Superstars had other icons of the business retire them in the ring. Ric Flair had Shawn Michaels retire him and Michaels himself had The Undertaker retire him.

And, as far as The Undertaker is concerned, who better than Mr. WrestleMania himself to retire The Phenom’?

#1 Sting

This match, if booked, could blow away the roof at Florida next year. The Undertaker Vs Sting is a match of massive proportions. Sting is undoubtedly the biggest name of WCW, and The Undertaker is an icon of the WWE.

And, the fans have been clamoring for this match for almost two decades. And, even though Sting is supposedly retired, he stated in an interview that he is indeed willing to return to the ring for one man only.

And that is for The Undertaker.

In fact, Sting recently revealed his intentions in an interview with Wrestling travel,

“I mean, everyone knows who it would be. Taker, he’s the only guy I’d come out of retirement for now. No one else. We could just never get it together to make it happen. When I started talking to WWE he was booked with Brock [Lesnar] and then I did the deal with Triple H and he had another feud going on at the time, so it was just one of those things we couldn’t make happen.
“But I don’t regret it not happening either, I mean I got to face Triple H at my first WrestleMania and then wrestle Seth [Rollins] for the world title, so I didn’t do too badly out of that deal. But yeah, now, the only person I’m getting back in the ring for is Taker.”

If the WWE can make this fantasy a reality at WrestleMania next year, it might well turn out to be the biggest match in WrestleMania history. The storyline that the WWE can weave around this bout, the theatrics that they can employ can make take this match to a whole new orbit.

And finally, who better than The Icon to retire a WWE icon at WrestleMania next year.
