His transformation has been from being a sidelined superstar who impressed on random occasions to someone who is the hero of the audience. The 2-time United States Champion faced off against the WWE Champion AJ Styles a couple of months back at the Extreme Rules PPV where AJ Styles successfully retained his WWE title.

Maybe if Randy Orton or The Miz (who are former champions) capture the WWE title in future, the heels could have a nice storyline against The Bulgarian Brute. Rusev is hugely over as a babyface, and should get a place at the top.
