3 possible things that could happen to The Shield after Dean Ambrose returns

The Shield announced their marvellous return by triple power-bombing The Miz and taking out Braun Strowman later in the night. But the reunion quickly took a bump when Roman Reigns was sidelined due to a Meningitis virus and had to be pulled out of the first reunion match at TLC.

Reigns made his return a few weeks later and The Shield spearheaded an attack on SmackDown Live. They put on a wonderful match against The New Day at Survivor Series. When things were starting to look good a few weeks later, Ambrose was ambushed and was sidelined due to torn triceps and the estimated time was around nine months.

Let's face it, even though the reunion was nostalgic, it was truly underwhelming. We never got to see the true colors of Hounds of Justice and all three were mostly involved in individual feuds.

We are currently nearing Ambrose's return as he has been advertised for live events in South Africa. With that being said, let us look at three possible ways to reignite The Shield storyline. Will The Hounds of Justice run the WWE again or will they go their separate ways?

#3 Heel Dean Ambrose vs Face Seth Rollins

When The Shield disbanded, Rollins and Ambrose had a very interesting and exciting rivalry with both of them being ready to go to any limits to take out each other. The rivalry lasted for a long time but it never failed to deliver.

They had some phenomenal matches back in the day, but it took place when Rollins was a heel with The Authority backing him up.

The WWE Universe is itching to see a heel turn for Ambrose which will go well with his Lunatic and hardcore gimmick. Rollins is currently the Intercontinental Champion and is set to defend his title in The Greatest Royal Rumble against The Miz and Finn Balor in a ladder match.

There is a high probability of him retaining and he can issue an open challenge next week on Raw stating that he is a fighting champion. Who will answer the call? Dean Ambrose.

Ambrose can either ambush Rollins before the match or after the match out of frustration of losing which will lead to a feud between the two.

#2 Heel Roman Reigns vs Face Dean Ambrose

Could there be a crack among the brothers?

Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose have faced each other only once one on one and that was for the WWE World Heavyweight Title which ended with Reigns winning before Sheamus cashed in The money in the bank contract.

Reigns is currently set to face Brock Lesnar for the Universal title in a steel cage match at the Greatest Royal Rumble, with rumors suggesting Reigns will emerge victorious. Following this, Reigns will face Samoa Joe at Backlash, and it will probably be another high profile victory for The Big Dog of WWE.

Reigns can appear the following week on Raw and gloat about his achievements of being the only one to slay The Beast for the title and defeat Joe without needing anyone's assistance and can take a few shots at his Shield brothers.

This might lead to Ambrose interrupting him and having a few words with Reigns. It will lead to The Big Dog losing his temper and attacking Ambrose and finally turning heel.

Reigns is capable of delivering a heelish promo effortlessly and we have seen what a cocky champion he can be before. This might allow him to be finally accepted by the fans and booed off the building less frequently.

#1 The Shield vs Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre & Jinder Mahal

There are a lot of dream matches in store for The Shield but it isn't possible due to the brand split.

After defeating Samoa Joe at Backlash, Reigns can deliver a promo the next night on Raw about him overcoming the odds to beat Lesnar and Joe or just Joe. This could lead to Reigns being ambushed by Jinder Mahal along with The Singh Brothers, before Rollins runs down to make the save.

But there can be a twist when Ziggler and McIntyre arrive to Mahal's aid, all three having being drafted to Raw recently.

This could lead to them overpowering The Shield in a 2-on-3 situation before Dean Ambrose's music hits and he comes out to even things up.

A feud between the two teams, with Mahal, Ziggler and mcIntyre destroying The Shield on the upcoming weeks on Raw and The Singh Brothers providing some much-needed distractions and for the first time to make The Shield look like underdogs.

This will certainly be an exciting feud if WWE does pull the trigger, and will surely help freshen the storylines on Raw.
