Vince McMahon surprised the WWE Universe when he announced that John Cena would be returning to the company very soon. Even though much details about his return have not been revealed yet, there are a lot of speculations and questions hovering in the WWE Universe.

A wrestler of his calibre deserves top notch bookings. He has done so much for the WWE Universe, and it is time WWE returns the favour. If he is utilised properly, it can be one of the best returns any wrestler has achieved in recent times.

Here are three possible road-maps, towards which the WWE management can channelize his potentials upon, to benefit both WWE and John Cena.

#3 Intercontinental title and Grand-slam Champion

Even though John Cena has accomplished almost everything in WWE, the only blot in his career is that he never won the Intercontinental Championship. If he wins the title in 2019, he will become a grand-slam champion as well. Cena has won the United States title, but could never lay his hands upon the IC title.

If he wins the IC title, it could open up several new story-lines and rivalries. The current IC Champion is Dean Ambrose, and a match between Cena and Ambrose would be a wonderful idea. He can raise the standards of the title set by his predecessors. Also, he can promote new and upcoming talents by defending his title against them.

It is a shame that John Cena is not a grand-slam champion. The only hurdle remaining to unlock this milestone is the IC Championship.

If he wins this title, he can certainly claim to be the best wrestler of all time.

#2 WWE Championship

No WWE Champion has made an everlasting impression like John Cena. Upon his return, it would be a highly sensible decision for WWE to book John Cena in a WWE Championship feud.

Cena is a 13 time WWE Champion, and has headlined PPVs and main-evented WrestleMania. There has never been a bigger star in WWE history than him.

If he returns to win the WWE Championship, it would be a dream return, as he certainly can be a better champion than any full time wrestler.

#1 Universal Championship

Cena has never won the Universal Championship
Cena has never won the Universal Championship

The WWE Universe can never forget the rivalry between John Cena and Brock Lesnar. They both have a long history together, and have competed against each other several times. John Cena versus Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship would be a match that WWE fans across the globe would love to see.

Cena's reputation as a Champion in WWE is impeccable. Currently, the Universal Championship has received a lot of flak from the WWE Universe, owing to the 'lazy' and 'part time' champion Brock Lesnar.

Also, RAW's ratings have fallen considerably. John Cena is a wreslter who can change the fortunes of both RAW and the Universal Championship.

Cena can garner high viewership by delivering excellent promos. He knows how to connect with the audience much better than any other wrestler. Therefore it would be a wise decision to book Cena in a Universal Championship feud.
