Ricochet has done it. Yes, you read that right. In what could be called as one of the best matches of the night, the high flyer has beaten Samoa Joe to become the new United States Champion.
Well, the speculations of WWE crowning Ricochet as the new US Champion were making rounds all over the Internet for the last week or so, and WWE did not disappoint as the former NXT North American Champion went on to stun Samoa Joe to win his first title on the WWE main roster.
Furthermore, the backstage reaction that he got and especially that hug from Triple H indicates that WWE believes in him. They seem to finally realize their mistake and there could be some big plans in store for Ricochet in the near future.
With Ricochet becoming the new US Champion, the speculations of a potential feud have already begun. And in this article, we take a look at 3 potential feuds for Ricochet as the new US Champion.
#3 AJ Styles
After winning the US Championship at Stomping Grounds, Ricochet was confronted backstage during his photo shoot by none other than AJ Styles and his Club. AJ warned Ricochet and stated that he would be seeing him on the upcoming episode of Raw, thus, teasing a potential feud in the process.
Moments later, WWE announced that Ricochet will be taking on AJ Styles on tonight's Raw. Thus, a potential dream feud between two stalwarts of WWE could be on the cards.
A dream feud against AJ Styles would not only grab a lot of eyeballs but could do wonders to Ricochet's career. Furthermore, he could learn a few tricks of the trade from a veteran like Styles.
The duos' agility and their intensity would be a perfect match for each other inside the WWE ring. Furthermore, this could also spice things up a bit in the mid card of the red brand.
#2 Samoa Joe
Even though Ricochet defeated Samoa Joe clean to become the new US Champion, this is not over yet. It can't be. Well, at least until Extreme Rules.
Samoa Joe could get a US title shot against Ricochet. Thus, WWE could have him interfere in Styles vs Ricochet match tonight on Raw to beat the daylights out of the current US champ.
This would not only prolong their feud but would also set up a rematch at Extreme Rules. However, with WWE in dire need of fresh feuds, given the recycled and repetitive bookings of Stomping Grounds, I highly doubt that would be a wise decision.
Nonetheless, a potential rematch against Samoa Joe looks to be on the cards. Thus, expect, WWE to just tease us with a Styles vs Ricochet match on the upcoming episode of Raw, saving it (maybe) for Summerslam 2019.
#1 Rey Mysterio
Rey Mysterio had to relinquish his US title after he picked up an injury during his match with Samoa Joe. However, there have been speculations that he could return to WWE sooner than later.
A potential feud against Ricochet for the US title would make complete sense. Mysterio vs Ricochet could prove to be of those classic feuds, if WWE books it right.
Rey's high flying moves backed by his ability against Ricochet's intensity and his unique set of skill set could prove to be a real treat to the eyes.
Thus, WWE could conclude the Joe vs Ricochet feud at Extreme Rules (if it is not already) and then go on to book a dream feud between Mysterio and Ricochet leading to a mouthwatering matchup at Summerslam.
