The 33rd edition of the WWE Survivor Series PPV is almost upon us, and the expectations of fans are relatively high this year given the quality of the announced match card.

The announced matches for the PPV are - Brock Lesnar (Universal Champion) vs Daniel Bryan (WWE Champion), Ronda Rousey (Raw Women's Champion) vs Charlotte Flair, Seth Rollins (Intercontinental Champion) vs Shinsuke Nakamura (United States Champion).

Also, Authors Of Pain (Raw Tag Team Champions) vs The Bar (SmackDown Tag Team Champions), Buddy Murphy vs Mustafa Ali ( WWE Cruiserweight Championship match), 5-on-5 Men's Survivor Series elimination match, 5-on-5 Women's Survivor Series elimination match, and 5-on-5 Survivor Series tag team elimination match.

The PPV is going to feature two massive first time ever match-ups - Brock vs Bryan, and Charlotte vs Ronda. In this slideshow, we are going to have a look at 3 matches which have the potential to be the match of the year candidates.

#3 Daniel Bryan vs Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar vs Daniel Bryan was often regarded as the ultimate David vs Goliath encounter in WWE

The dream match-up between 'The Beast Incarnate' Brock Lesnar and Daniel Bryan was always considered the ultimate David vs Goliath encounter within pro wrestling circles in the past.

Daniel Bryan's heel turn made this encounter even more special. If Bryan was still working as a babyface, then the match would have shaped up in the same way as last year's encounter between AJ Styles and Brock Lesnar.

Both AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan are similar to each other on various levels, including technical expertise and size, so Brock would have dominated the majority of the match, and Daniel Bryan would then make a heroic comeback, to only succumb to a vicious F5 in the end.

Since Daniel Bryan is a heel now, we can expect him to employ some underhand techniques to gain the upper hand over The Beast during their encounter. Though the result of this match is pretty much obvious, it is the unpredictability factor, and the rejuvenated heel character of The Bearded GOAT which makes this a potential match of the night candidate.

The possibility of former WWE Champion, AJ Styles, attacking Daniel Bryan also makes it one of the most anticipated matches of the night, as there is so much drama involved in this contest.

#2 Ronda Rousey vs Charlotte Flair

The match was set up just 5 days before the event as the previously scheduled match was called off due to an injury to the SmackDown Women's Champion.

Charlotte Flair is regarded as one of the best female wrestlers in the world, so she was the best possible replacement for The Man available on the SmackDown live roster to face 'The Baddest Woman On The Planet' Ronda Rousey at Survivor Series.

There is no real heat or build to this match, but the quality of both superstars involved in the match might be enough for WWE to produce a marvelous encounter. On the whole card, this is one of the matches with the potential to be the match of the night or even year candidate.

The possibility of an interference from 'The Man' Becky Lynch to distract either of the women involved makes this encounter even more intriguing, and adds to the drama.

#1 Seth Rollins vs Shinsuke Nakamura

This is probably the least built match on the main show, but it still has the potential to be the best match of the night, or even the year. 'The Kingslayer' Seth Rollins has been in red-hot form this year, and has already delivered multiple match of the year candidates.

'The King of Strong Style' Shinsuke Nakamura is a world-renowned wrestler who has high potential. His main roster run has been pretty dismal till date, and most of his matches have been pretty ordinary.

His performances in NXT prove otherwise. He was a magnificent worker there as he produced several outstanding matches. His takeover match against Sami Zayn was critically acclaimed, and was arguably the match of the year in 2016.

So if given the right opportunity and time, The Artist and The Kingslayer definitely have the ability to deliver an instant classic. Dean Ambrose's possible interference during the match makes it even more intriguing.
