3 Potential Opponents for John Cena at Wrestlemania 35

EC3 will be looking to make his mark in the WWE

Many WWE fans might remember EC3 as the goofy Derrick Bateman in the original version of NXT. But a lot has changed since he was a rookie under Daniel Bryan on the show. After getting released, Bateman went to Impact Wrestling and reinvented himself as EC3.

Over time, EC3 became one of the best and most entertaining heels in all of wrestling. So impressive were his performances that the WWE was forced to bring him back. And after coming back, EC3 said in an interview that he wanted to 'vanquish' John Cena at Wrestlemania.

But that is not so uncommon. Cena is one of the biggest stars in wrestling history and everybody wants to face him at Wrestlemania. What is interesting though is that Cena acknowledged the challenge and revealed that he wanted to face EC3 as well.

And while EC3 has not had the greatest of starts to his NXT career, his style seems much more suited to the main roster than fast-paced, all-action NXT. Further, he has already shown his ability to be a main event star in a major company during his time in Impact.

If Cena and EC3 do indeed meet at Wrestlemania 35, there would be no better way to solidify EC3 as a major star in the WWE than by having him retire the 16-time world champion.
