3 potential reasons why Bobby Lashley is in the Intercontinental Championship match on RAW

WWE announced on its official website today that on the next episode of Monday Night RAW we will get a triple threat Intercontinental Championship match featuring Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Bobby Lashley.

Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose have been feuding over that championship for quite a time now and the duo even battled in a Falls Count Anywhere match on RAW last week, which saw Dean Ambrose retain his title thanks to an interference by Bobby Lashley. Lashley totally decimated Rollins and even executed a post-match beatdown on him.

However, Lashley did not interact with the Intercontinental Champion, Dean Ambrose and so, the announcement of a triple threat match for the title has surprised a lot of fans. In my opinion, WWE would have taken this decision for the following reasons.

#3 - To allow Seth Rollins move out of the IC title picture and feud with Bobby Lashley

As per the latest rumors, Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch are the favorites to win their respective Rumble matches and so, if Rollins is supposed to challenge Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 35, then he should be built like a credible challenger in the time between Rumble and WrestleMania.

So, the WWE will probably have him feud with Bobby Lashley before Wrestlemania in order to solidify him as the perfect challenger for Brock's title. And this feud can kick start from the next episode of RAW which could see Lashley somehow costing Seth Rollins the title once again.

This would also drive Seth out of the Intercontinental Championship feud ahead of the Royal Rumble PPV. If this is WWE's plan, then Lashley should definitely cost Rollins the title on RAW.

#2 - To make this match a No-Disqualification Match

The one masterstroke that WWE have played by adding Bobby Lashley in this match is that this match is now a triple threat match, meaning that there are no disqualifications, no count-outs and anything goes in the match.

Last week on RAW the Creative team had booked a Falls Count Anywhere match between Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins, so booking another no DQ match between the two or a singles match between the two superstars would have made little sense.

In order to give Seth Rollins one more title shot, that too in a no DQ match, the WWE have added Bobby Lashley in the match and satisfied both their demands. With all weapons legal in this match, expect the superstars to make the full use of them and this may even have a big role to play in the result of the match.

#1 - Bobby Lashley will eat the pin

Now, the most important reason behind inserting the Dominator, Bobby Lashley in the match between Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins is that WWE does not want any of the latter two superstars to eat a pin on WWE TV. So, the best way to book a defeat for either of the two is by having the third person eat the pin in the match.

Dean Ambrose has not been pinned clean ever since he has made his return to WWE, while Seth Rollins, as I mentioned earlier, is the favorite to win the Royal Rumble and so, the Creative team may want his character to look as strong as possible ahead of his match with Brock Lesnar.

The Lunatic is the favorite to walk out of the match as the winner and without a doubt it will be Bobby Lashley who will eat the pin in this match.
