What's the story?

We're only weeks away from the Royal Rumble pay-per-view. The WWE Universe is particularly excited about the two Royal Rumble matches that will determine who will go on to WrestleMania 35 in two big title matches.

Cageside Seats has given us an indication of who the early favourites are. If the rumours are true, fans should be very pleased.

In case you didn't know...

The last year saw the inaugural women's Royal Rumble match take place. Asuka was the winner of the 30-woman match.

Asuka would go on to WrestleMania where she lost to Charlotte Flair after an exciting bout, effectively ending her winning streak. Shinsuke Nakamura would win the men's match and go on to challenge AJ Styles in what was touted to be a dream rematch from Wrestle Kingdom 10. Nakamura lost his big match and thereafter went heel.

The heart of the matter

Now, Becky Lynch is supposed to face Asuka for the SmackDown Women's Championship at the Royal Rumble. Even after her match is done, there's talk that she will enter the match and go on to win it, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

As for the men's match, Seth Rollins is considered to be the favourite, going in. Talk is that he will face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 35, as the rumour mills had indicated some time ago. It is heartening to see that two crowd favourites, Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins are going into the Royal Rumble as favourites for a change.

What's next?

Seth Rollins has unfinished business with Dean Ambrose and Bobby Lashley. Becky Lynch and Asuka should build up their feud, ahead of the Royal Rumble, in weeks that follow. The road to WrestleMania has officially begun.
