On the latest episode of Monday Night RAW, Randy Orton shocked the WWE Universe when he made an appearance on the red brand. The Apex Predator's arrival on RAW was purpose-driven, as he interrupted newly crowned World Heavyweight Champion Gunther's promo and reminded The Ring General about the latter's controversial victory against him in the final of the King of the Ring tournament earlier this year.
Citing the controversy, The Viper demanded Gunther a rematch at the Bash in Berlin Premium Live Event. The Imperium member quickly accepted the challenge. Since this contest has become official, many believe Gunther will retain the title in Berlin.
However, in this article, we will look at three reasons why Randy Orton must beat Gunther at Bash in Berlin:
#3. Randy Orton must win his 15th World Title in WWE
When WWE fans speak about the most World Championship victories by a wrestler, Ric Flair and John Cena come to mind, given they are tied at 16 each. However, one man who is not too far behind is Randy Orton. The Legend Killer is a 14-time WWE World Champion (10-time WWE Champion and four-time World Heavyweight Champion).
During an appearance on Logan Paul's Impaulsive podcast, Randy expressed his desire to surpass Cena and Flair's records. If WWE too wants The Viper to break that record, then Bash in Berlin could be a great place to begin.
#2. To continue a long feud between Randy Orton and Gunther
Based on the current scenario, many believe the match between Gunther and Orton is a one-off thing. However, WWE can change this perception by booking The Apex Predator to win at Bash in Berlin. This would lead to a series of matches between the two, with The Ring General eventually emerging victorious in the final match of the feud.
Not only would these matches be entertaining for the audience to watch, but it would also help Gunther solidify his reign as World Heavyweight Champion.
#1. To set up a potential clash with John Cena
If Orton and Gunther are involved in a long feud that includes a series of matches following The Apex Predator's potential victory at Bash in Berlin, WWE could book the former Evolution member to win the World Heavyweight Championship in the final match of the feud. By doing so, the promotion will be able to book a potential mega clash between The Viper and John Cena.
For those unaware, The Franchise Player is expected to return early next year to begin his Retirement Tour. Cena and Orton had a decorated rivalry during the late 2000s and early 2010s, and the Triple H-led creative may look to revive the legendary feud during the Hollywood star's Farewell Tour.
The promotion could book a World Heavyweight Title clash between the legendary stars at WrestleMania 41, where Cena could claim his record-breaking 17th World Title.
