Initially, when AJ Styles made his switch from SmackDown to Raw in the draft, he was straightaway involved in the Universal Championship picture.

But due to an injury, the plans of him facing Seth Rollins were scrapped. Styles has not yet won the Universal Championship in his WWE career, and knowing the Phenomenal One, he would be itching to get his hands on that Universal Title.

Maybe by involving him in the Universal Championship picture, WWE is trying to put Styles where he belongs.

Furthermore, there isn't any heel in the current Universal Championship program and by putting the Phenomenal One in the picture, Strowman might not have to turn heel after all.

Besides, Styles will get his shot at the Universal Championship sooner rather than later. Maybe Vince McMahon is planning a Styles vs Rollins program for the Universal Championship.
