3 reasons why Braun Strowman and Elias should win the Tag Team titles at Wrestlemania 34

Who will help Braun get these hands on gold at Wrestlemania 34?
Will Elias finally help Strowman get these hands on some gold at Wrestlemania?

Braun Strowman's victory in the tag-team battle royal this past Monday night on Raw came as a surprise to large portions of the WWE Universe.

The Monster Among Men is one of the most over Superstars on the WWE roster right now, and many fans expected him to take a prominent position on the card in New Orleans, with more optimistic members of the WWE Universe hoping and praying that he would be added to and ultimately win the Universal Title match between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns.

Strowman's solo victory in the match means that he is still in need of a partner on April 8th, and right now, there appears to be no better choice for that than Elias. The two have had a mini-feud over the last month, and their strange bedfellow's act could prove to be a masterstroke from WWE creative.

Many Superstars have found success in the tag team division before moving on to bigger things and this could turn out to be just what Braun and Elias need to give them that final push.

Let's take a look at three reasons why Elias and Braun should win the tag team titles at WrestleMania 34.

#3 Rebuild the Tag Team division

The Raw tag division has not been in the best state this year. Since Jason Jordan's injury and the failed Sheild reunion, The Bar has been the only legitimate tag-team on Monday nights.

While the company have tried to elevate other talents, as they did with Titus Worldwide in February, the fans have struggled to buy teams who have essentially been jobbers for the last year challenging established competitors like Sheamus and Cesaro.

Elevating Strowman and Elias to the titles not only dethrones The Bar, but it adds attention to the division, and will also allow other teams to prosper. Strowman and Elias will likely be at each other's throats all the time, and their volatile relationship means it would be believable for any team to snatch a victory against them, especially if one of them develops a habit for leaving the other to fend for themselves.

Having these two stars dominating the division also guarantees a rub for the team that eventually overthrows them. A pinfall victory over the team, even if it's over Elias, would instantly elevate the team that beat them, and it could be the perfect opportunity to elevate a hot new tag team.

#2 It gives both men fresh feuds

One thing that has become abundantly clear over the last couple of months is that when Roman Reigns or Brock Lesnar is occupied, the WWE struggle to find something for Braun to do.

Strowman has been built like an absolute monster over the last year, and it stands to reason that his only legitimate competitors are fellow monsters. Because of this, Strowman stands the chance of getting lost in the shuffle after WrestleMania, especially if rumours are correct about Reigns feuding with Seth Rollins.

Putting him in the tag team division not only keeps him on TV, but it keeps him relevant and lets him continue to develop his in-ring work while working with different wrestlers like Sheamus and Cesaro, or The Hardys.

Likewise, a run with the tag belts will give Elias his first legitimate storyline with the company. Elias has not had a feud of any real substance so far and has pretty much risen to popularity through his character work alone. Giving him a chance to show he can perform between the ropes, and work an extended program, will help elevate him up the card as well.

#1 Character development

While in the eyes of many fans, the tag team titles may be a step backward for Braun Strowman, it is worth remembering that a good run with the tag team titles can often help someone launch their careers.

Take the oddball pairing of Kane and Daniel Bryan back in 2012/13 as an example. Bryan had found reasonable success before his run with the tag team belts but it was his run with Kane that really helped push him into the stratosphere.

His run as a member of Team Hell No also gave birth to his iconic Yes chant, effectively solidifying his place as one of the most popular superstars of a generation.

Elias and Strowman are both in a similar position to Bryan, knocking on the door of success, and a run as an oddball tag team could give them that extra little nudge over the line. These two men have shown in their recent exchanges that they are well equipped to get the best out of each other in this department, with the recent Symphony of Destruction match being a notable example.

Watching them attempt to get on the same page, and perhaps even succeeding, could make for some great television and really help them get over more with the fans.
