3 reasons why Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman won WWE Raw Tag Team Championship

This is Gold!
This is Gold!

Braun Strowman and Seth Rollins are the new Raw Tag Team Champions. The duo defeated the Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson of the OC to become the new champions. It was a match of varied proportions ranging from quickness to strength and from outside interference to in-ring action. The match became the most sought after as the current Universal Champion came down to the ring to even the odds after the United States Championship match.

The OC and AJ Styles were beating up Braun Strowman before Seth Rollins decided to return the favor from last week. This followed up with a backstage segment where Seth Rollins decided to challenge The OC for the Raw Tag Team Gold with the Monster Among Men, Braun Strowman.

It seemed like a possible outcome, but now that this win is in the record books, I look at reasons why this change of championship belts came about.

You may sound off your comments on whether you agree or disagree with my assessment:

#3 To revive the Raw Tag Team Division

The tag team division on Monday Nights didn't see good days despite the championship changing hands from The Revival to The OC. The match was not even on the SummerSlam match card, and the lackluster storylines only added to the misery.

The division has some of the best performers in the business, and it is about time that the company focuses on this division. In an attempt to revive the division, the company would have decided to put the gold around the performers that are on Raw every week. This mixed with the fact that they know how to elevate a wrestler's career and character will only add to more jaw-dropping moments and matches down the line.

While this is one, the other two reasons also hold substantial value.

#2 Substantiate Braun Strowman's push

Braun Strowman was the main event player before he went into obscurity and was doing some of the most meaningless promos within the company. The wrestler didn't get his Universal Championship match at this year's Royal Rumble event, and since then he hasn't been doing much.

Fast forward to last week, The Monster Among Men became the highlight of the show when he stepped up and took down AJ Styles and OC after they attacked the Universal Champion. With this move considered as his push, the company decided to elevate his career graph and make him a main event player. This way his push would be validated, and there will be a better as well as a bigger reason for him to be on the show every week. There is a good reason why the company decided to tag him up with Seth Rollins, and I discuss that point in the next slide.

#1 A Universal Championship Match loss would be catastrophic for Braun Strowman

Loss would end the push for Strowman
Loss would end the push for Strowman

Seth Rollins won the Universal Championship at SummerSlam, and so it is highly unlikely that he would lose it at Clash of Champions. In case, Braun Strowman would have challenged him for the title he would have lost the match and the push as well.

This isn't a good idea at all, and so the best way to keep him fresh before he challenges the current Universal Champion would be to put him in a championship storyline with Seth Rollins. We all know that betrayals do happen in such a storyline, and the same will only help both wrestlers who have the charisma to push any and every storyline to its best level.

After all, no one hates good competition, and this feud will be worth the gold down the line.
