3 reasons why The Kabuki Warriors beat Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch at TLC

For the second time in the last two years, women main evented TLC, delivering stupendous matches on both occasions. While the SmackDown Women's Title was on the line in a triple threat match between Asuka, Charlotte Flair, and Becky Lynch last year, the Women's Tag Team Titles were defended in a tag team match between The Kabuki Warriors and Charlotte Flair & Becky Lynch this year.

The Women's Tag Team match was a traditional TLC match, where tables, ladders, and chairs were used. There is no denying that it was one of the best matches of the night, with all four women pushing the limits. From using tables and chairs to showcasing jaw-dropping maneuvers from top of ladders, the match had it all, but Kairi Sane and Asuka had the last laugh, retaining the twin belts despite a valiant effort from The Queen and The Man.

In this article, we analyze three reasons why The Kabuki Warriors beat Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch at TLC.

#3 To continue the feud for the Women"s Tag Team Championship

What a feud it has been!
What a feud it has been!

There is no doubt that the Women's Tag Team Championship match has been one of the entertaining feuds heading to TLC, as four elite women were part of the match. A victory for The Kabuki Warriors means that the rivalry might not end at TLC, and they are likely to renew the feud.

Lynch and Charlotte formed a new team, agreeing to take on The Kabuki Warriors clearing out their differences. The Champions, on the other hand, have been together for a while and they gel well together.

Apart from Charlotte and Lynch, the Red Brand lacks a formidable threat for Asuka and Kairi Sane. Given they locked horns in a TLC match, their rematch could be a normal one fall match. If either of the members of The Kabuki Warriors challenges Becky Lynch for the RAW Women's Championship, The Man might have to pull off a double duty at Royal Rumble next year, like she has already done at Royal Rumble and Money in the Bank this year.

#2 To make the Women's Tag Team Titles more relevant

Women's Tag Team Titles were introduced at Elimination Chamber this year, where a number of tag teams competed for those belts, and Sasha Banks and Bayley ended up being the first-ever Women's Tag Team Champions in WWE. Holding the twin belts for two months, they were fighting champions but dropped them to The IIconics at WrestleMania 35.

The title reign of The IIconics was not noteworthy, putting a question mark on the credibility of the newly introduced twin belts. Although they held the titles 120 days, it was a forgettable run, considering they merely defended the titles and skipped several pay-per-views. Having won the titles, Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross tried bringing prestige to those titles, but they didn't hold the titles for a long time.

The scenario, however, has been different since The Kabuki Warriors won the belts at Hell in a Cell, and the titles have been more relevant than before. Not only they brought more prestige to the twin belts after an emphatic win at TLC but also they beat two top women of women's division, proving their worth as champions. While the Women's Tag Team Championship match mainevented TLC, the victory also elevated the stature of The Kabuki Warriors.

#1 Planting a seed for Becky Lynch's next feud

Who is next for The Man?
Who is next for The Man?

Becky Lynch is the reigning RAW Women's Champion, but she didn't put the title on the line at TLC, as she participated in the Women's Tag Team Championship match. While Lynch and Charlotte make a formidable team, it will be interesting to see who gets a title shot for the most coveted women's prize of the Red Brand.

Since defending the red belt against Sasha Banks at Hell in a Cell, The Man hasn't had the opportunity of putting the title on the line. While the belt wasn't defended at Crown Jewel, she fought in a triple threat match against the SmackDown Women's Champion and NXT Women's Champion at Survivor Series. With that in mind, she is expected to defend the title at Royal Rumble, and the outcome of the Women's Tag Championship match certainly gave a hint of her opponent.

Asuka created a major obstacle for Becky Lynch at TLC, with the help of her tag team partner, Kairi Sane. There is no doubt that Asuka has gained momentum not only winning at TLC but also beating Charlotte Flair a few weeks on RAW, and she could be next in the line to challenge The Man. Asuka has been booked as a legit heel in this feud, and she looks like a worthy challenger for the RAW Women's Championship. Moreover, she is also unbeaten against Lynch. Asuka and Lynch crossed paths for SmackDown Women's Championship at Royal Rumble this year and the same could happen for the RAW Women's Championship next year.
