3 SmackDown Live superstars who could fill the babyface void left by Daniel Bryan on the Blue brand

Why Bryan why?
Why Bryan why?

As you all would have known by now, Daniel Bryan turned heel and won the WWE Championship from AJ Styles in the main event of Smackdown.

Follow Sportskeeda for the latest WWE news, rumors and all other wrestling news.

He will now go on to face Universal Champion Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series, in what may not be such a good idea.

Bryan had to retire from in-ring competition due to head and neck injuries, so how smart is it really to put him in the ring with a guy who only has three moves, all involving an effect to the head and neck area?

Aside from that match, the booking decision to turn Bryan bad was baffling, to say the least. He is one of the most likeable people on the entire WWE roster and has always been extremely over.

Maybe it is down to the frustration of his return not exactly being the success it was envisioned to be. The heel turn does freshen up the new WWE Champion's stale character after his return to the ring.

It certainly is extremely intriguing to see what the Flying Goat will do post-Survivor Series, as the first new WWE Champion in over a year.

One other issue with the turn is that Smackdown is now overflowing with heels, with new arrivals and freshly turned Superstars.

The babyface side on Smackdown consists of AJ Styles, Jeff Hardy, Rey Mysterio and Rusev, with the likes of R-Truth and Tye Dillinger underneath.

There are several more bad guys on the Blue brand. That fact paired with the possibility of "Best In The World" Shane McMahon turning heel, makes it necessary for WWE to turn one of the heels on Smackdown babyface. But who will it be?

Here are three possible heels who could turn face to replace Daniel Bryan.

#3 Andrade Cien Almas

This one is unlikely to happen simply because Andrade Cien Almas is still finding his feet on Smackdown.

Making his debut in May, Almas has been pretty impressive on the Blue brand despite his limited feature time. The former NXT Champion has had great showings against AJ Styles and Rey Mysterio, among others.

However, the fact that the heel side on Smackdown is so stocked has caused Almas to stagnate a bit. He needs to get that big break and it could happen with him turning into a babyface.

El Idolo started off as a face but was hugely unpopular in his role as a good guy. He was then transformed into a ruthless and vicious heel, with Zelina Vega as his manager. The change propelled him to the NXT Championship and a huge uproar in popularity.

Almas has the in-ring skills to be a top tier good guy, proving that when he delivered WWE's first 5-star match since 2011 along with Johnny Gargano. But again, there are other more likely candidates to fill the top babyface spot on Smackdown.

#2 Samoa Joe

Joe could replace Bryan as a good guy

This move would make a lot of sense, especially how supremely talented and over Samoa Joe is. Every single time he walks to the ring, the crowd always chants "JOE! JOE! JOE!".

He has that swagger about him that makes people side with him. Joe is great in the ring and is one of the few masters on the microphone.

Everything that he says seems so genuine and impactful. Hell, he even managed to make the Wendy Styles storyline work to some degree. It takes a special talent to do that.

The Samoan Submission machine, like Almas, started off as a babyface in NXT, but he only found his stride as a villain.

Joe is one of those guys whose character does not need to change much if he does turn face, as he is a no-nonsense brawler who is always looking for a fight and is great on the mike.

A babyface Samoa Joe would be incredible to see and seems like the logical next step after his long feud with AJ Styles came to a close. He would be the perfect replacement for Bryan in that department.

#1 The Miz

The tide is turning
The tide is turning

Back in August 2016, when The Miz vented all of his frustrations out on Daniel Bryan, we were all supremely excited for a possible encounter between the two of them.

Unfortunately, Bryan was still injured at the time. Once he did get cleared earlier this year, the one match everybody wanted to see was him against The Miz.

The story was solid and strong, but their match at SummerSlam did not deliver to the lofty expectations it carried. A certain spark was not there. Their two-minute farce at Super Showdown put a huge downer on a feud that had disappointed.

With Daniel Bryan's return not setting the world on fire, his feud with The Miz died a slow and painful death. But now with Bryan turning bad, maybe we could get a different take on this match.

The Miz has been a babyface once in his WWE career when he was miscast as one between 2012 and 2013.

But after the stellar run he has been on since 2016, maybe it might be something WWE would like to revisit. Granted, it may not work but now is as good a time as any to pull the trigger on a Miz babyface turn.

It very well could happen, with the Awesome One being the catalyst for "Best In The World" Shane McMahon's heel turn.

He has been an extremely likeable figure outside the ring and is a great company man, so perhaps it is worth a shot. There certainly would be some potential in a face Miz vs heel Daniel Bryan story. It would be something different.
