3 surprises that should happen at the Royal Rumble, but won't

Aleister Black - Will he rise over?
Aleister Black - Will he rise over?

NXT Takeover: Phoenix just happened, and if you are a fan of the yellow brand, and their constant attempts to provide some of the best and most exciting performances, you would have been thoroughly entertained with the show these up and coming wrestlers put forth.

The show was a hit with Ricochet and Johnny Gargano putting on a clinic for the fans, and Bianca Belair versus Shayna Baszler was another highlight of the show. With so much happening in the WWE and the wrestling world in general, the performance of these up and coming superstars was certainly exciting.

While the show was from NXT, it was loved for the work of the performers planning to move up the ladder in due time. With a performance like this, the stakes for Royal Rumble are off the charts, and the company needs to put forth an exemplary performance to surpass the work done by the NXT Superstars on Saturday.

These are 3 ways to hype the show on Sunday, but won't happen.

#1 CM Punk returns

Straight Edge
Straight Edge

You can understand the impact of the Straight Edge Superstar, as he is still loved for his work, and his chants were heard before NXT Takeover: Phoenix. While he has turned down the option to return to professional wrestling, you can never count the option out, because he is a big draw.

With the new era of WWE in full swing, and the McMahon's in charge, chances are low he would return to the company, because the leader of the New Nexus had issues with the medical staff, and was involved in a legal battle which he won.

Also, he had issues with Triple H, and with Hunter in charge, this return is out of the question.

#2 Hulk Hogan returns to the show

Let me tell you something brother
Let me tell you something brother

Hulkamania did run wild at WWE Crown Jewel, and Hulk Hogan did return to a WWE ring to honor Mean Gene Okerlund's life, but that's all that is a possibility. He has been cleared of his sex tape issues, but his racial comments didn't sit well with the WWE Superstars.

He did return before Crown Jewel to offer his apologies, but a lot of superstars of color didn't buy the apology. He is a renowned wrestler and has a great fan base, but those remarks raised eyebrows. Despite him hosting WWE Crown Jewel, there are fewer to no chances of him hosting this show.

#3 John Cena wrestles in the Royal Rumble match

Your time is up
Your time is up

John Cena injured himself during the fatal four-way match on Raw to challenge the current Universal Champion at the Royal Rumble PPV.

While a lot of us would want the Cenation Leader to be a part of the match, the fact that the 16-time world champion is injured, means that we won't see him in the match, and he may not be able to break the record set by the Nature Boy anytime soon.
