3 Takeaways from Roman Reigns' WWE RAW return

Tonight's episode of WWE RAW started with raw emotion as Roman Reigns finally made his return to the WWE Universe since October when he was forced to relinquish the WWE Universal Championship.

Reigns was greeted by a roar of approval from the fans in Atalanta as he took time to shake the hand of each and every fan at ringside before finally hugging David Arquette and his mother before getting into the ring. Reigns took the mic and opened up about his battle in the last few months.

Reigns started off by saying that when it first happened, he didn't know whether he should let the fans know because he didn't know how they would react. He added that as soon he got home that night, the messages of support started pouring in and Reigns added that the strength that gave him helped him come back to where he is.

Reigns then added that everything he'd been through and the fans support, helped him see life in a new way. It wasn't about titles and planting his flag in the ring anymore but it as about just being able to get inside the ring and also gave him a platform to raise awareness.

#3 The update

Roman Reigns had an update on his condition and his smile before his announcement told the whole story. Reigns informed fans that cancer was in remission, and instead of swinging for the fences he'd hit a home run.

Reigns added that he was ready to get back inside the ring soon. It was incredible seeing even grown men in the crowd tear up as he made his announcement before the entire arena screamed "Welcome Back" at the former WWE Universal Champion. Reigns thanked the fans one last time before making his way out.

#2 Where was Ambrose?

We all remember the embrace between Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose on the night Reigns announced his departure. As Roman was making his way back out of the arena tonight, Seth Rollins came out to give Roman a hug but Reigns' best friend Dean Ambrose was conspicuous by his absence.

WWE may have kept Ambrose away from this moment because he may be leaving WWE soon.

#1 Possible return date

At this point, we don't really know when Roman Reigns will be back inside the ring doing what he does best but he looks in great shape and it shouldn't be too long. WrestleMania season is around the corner and at this point, it does not look like Reigns will be competing at Mania this year.

His return could be held off till after WrestleMania, giving him more time to recover. With WrestleMania storylines underway, this may be the best option.
